Saturday Photo Hunt

My 43rd

Since I'm no skinny minny like TN Chick, our lovely Photo Hunt Hostess, I thought I'd post a photo of our Daschund, Oscar. They are known for their long, SKINNY bodies. You have to be careful with this particular breed so that they do not get overweight and that they do not jump down from furniture because they can easily break their backs. The vet says that Oscar is particularly long, so we'll always have to be cautious about his weight but that right now he's perfect. I was glad to know that he wasn't too SKINNY, because I was a bit worried.

Saturday Photo Hunt

You may be asking yourself why in the world this photo could be tagged as flexible? Well if you take a good look at what Shelby is proudly displaying, you will clearly understand. This is an Easy Bake Oven. It has since been recalled. In fact she got her hand stuck in it on Christmas morning. Thankfully it happened before we plugged it in and she was fortunate to not get burned. I think that America has become too flexible in what we are allowing manufacturers to deem appropriate for our children! With the holidays coming up, it's weighing on my mind what to buy my children. This Christmas I promise to be less flexible and more aware of what I'm purchasing for not only my children, but all of my loved ones. I'm sure you'll be doing the same.

Saturday Photo Hunt - Emotion

These photos were taken at least 14 years ago. Brien and I were high school sweethearts even though we didn't attend the same high school. We dated all through school meeting every Friday and Saturday night (with our parents) at the local teen country dance hall. We married at this same place some 6 years later. We've been happily in love every since. Love is one of the greatest emotions there is. Thank goodness our relationship is built on a good foundation of love and we've survived for this long. Love is a strong emotion and I believe that it is the foundation for any great marriage. I LOVE my husband just as I did back then (well, without all of those raging hormones, of course!)

The kids had so much fun opening the box and throwing out the paper packing peanuts!!

Shelby was ready for clean up, but Tyler wanted to have more fun!

Saturday Photo Hunt: Smelly

These are the flowers that I got from my wonderful husband on our nine year wedding anniversary last month! They were very beautiful flowers and the smell was so glorious. They are now hanging upside down to dry out so that I can put them back into the bud vase later on and keep them forever! Thank you, baby. I love you so much. Nine years and I still love him just as much as I did the day I smelled my wedding bouquet!

Shelby not only has LONG hair, but she also takes a LONG time to fix it every day. Yes, my friends my five year old daughter does her own hair in the mornings. She also choses her own clothes. I gave up fighting with her every morning. It was just no use anymore. She does pretty well. She actually fixed her hair in this photo. I took it right before she headed out to school. She was proud that she made it look just like her favorite teacher, Ms Heather.

Shelby has no ORIGINAL curls. She cried all the way home from pre-school Thursday because she wants curly hair like Katie (her cousin). I tried to explain to her that God made us all different and he loves the way he made us and that we should love ourselves the way we are (easier said than done, I know!). That just seemed to make her cry worse when she realized her brother has curly hair. It's not fair that he has curly hair and she doesn't! So, my sister (Katie's mom) suggested that I buy some sponge rollers and give her instant curl. So, she was very excited to put these in her hair as soon as we got home on Friday night. Now for a while she has curly hair, even though they aren't ORIGINAL.

This is the Wal-Mart version of Splenda. We've been using it for about a year in our tea (I KNOW, GASP!). It's a great alternative to sugar Especially since my children LOVE sweet tea. I don't even recognize the difference anymore. In fact, sometimes when I drink real sweet tea, sometimes it's too sweet. I like this FAKE stuff myself! How 'bout you?

I don't post many photos of myself, mostly because I am usually the one behind the camera so there aren't many in existence. But, since this week's theme is stripes, and I'm wearing my favorite striped shirt I thought this was a perfect opportunity to post it. Shelby took this photo when we went to The Wonder Place two weekends ago. Shelby (my 6 year old daughter) was playing dress up and she placed this lovely hat on my head because it matched my shirt. Then of course she had to document the moment with a photo.

Since this week's Saturday Photo Hunter's Theme is Furry, I thought I could just combine two posts in one. In this photo is our Dachshund, or "wiener dog" as we like to call him is taking a nap on the couch. His fur is short, but he has a lot of it. When choosing an indoor animal, I thought a short haired dog was a good choice because of less shedding however Oscar has proved me wrong. His black fur ends up everywhere!!!

I thought I would post a follow up to my Saturday Photo Hunt entry and answer a few questions.
Here is the photo:

In posting this photo, I proposed that the light on Shelby's head might be some sort of supernatural such as an orb.
Here is a close up:

Some of you said that it looked like a bug while others supported the supernatural theory. I know for a fact that it was not a reflection from a light bulb (we were outside). It was also not a double exposure photo. Is that possible with digital photography? Yes, I did use a flash because like I mentioned before we were outside and it was dark. She never had a hair clip in her hair. We pulled her hair back in a pony tail and that is how it stayed all night long, so it's not possible that there was one there which later fell.

There are a few possibilities, though other than the supernatural for all of those non-supporters of such a theory. My reasoning is that we were watching fireworks (of course I left that part out 'till now to make it interesting). I am certain that the light has to with something falling down from the sky or reflecting at the time of the shot. But, then there is the firefly or bug theory. There very well could have been any sort of bug on her head at the time of this photo because as I said before we were outside. Also the pony tail holder that she had in the back of her hair did have shiny stars in it. It could have been a reflection from one of the stars on the top of her head.

So, while I'd like to say that maybe an orb was circling my daughter's head at the time of this photo, I think it can more than likely be explained by one of the more logical theories mentioned above. What do you think now that you know the whole story of the photo?!
