Saturday Photo Hunt

My 37th
This Week's Theme: Flexible
SPH Headquarters ~ The Other 35
You may be asking yourself why in the world this photo could be tagged as flexible? Well if you take a good look at what Shelby is proudly displaying, you will clearly understand. This is an Easy Bake Oven. It has since been recalled. In fact she got her hand stuck in it on Christmas morning. Thankfully it happened before we plugged it in and she was fortunate to not get burned. I think that America has become too flexible in what we are allowing manufacturers to deem appropriate for our children! With the holidays coming up, it's weighing on my mind what to buy my children. This Christmas I promise to be less flexible and more aware of what I'm purchasing for not only my children, but all of my loved ones. I'm sure you'll be doing the same.

You're right, the country has become way too flexible and lax in its standards and people are being hurt and getting sick. There is no reason for it - none.

Makes me wish that there were more things made in the USA rather than all being imported from country's where cheaper obviously does NOT mean better!

GReat choice--we have become too flexible. I am grateful to find that since we don't buy new toys (except family members buying them at Christmas) and since they have all kinds of allergies to keep them from getting a variety of things the kids don't have a single recalled item . Praise the Lord.

I agree! we should be more careful what we buy.
great choice!

happy hunting

Well that IS a different take on the theme! Nicely done!

I too agree, this country is ridiculous with what it deems important, right for who, and safety! Good for you! Great take on the theme! My photo is up, please come and visit

Safety first, especially when buying toys for the kids. Happy weekend!

I always wanted one of those when I was a kid.

Would be very happy to receive that as a present when I was little. LOL

wonderful post. I was in the toy aisle this evening of my favorite store and everyone was discussing this recall!! Amazing. Great post for flexible, Tish.

You are soo right. I have a 13 year old and a two year old and I AM forever in search of the good old wooden toys!

Very nice choice of pic for the theme! :)

Thank you for reminding us to be more cautious on what to buy for children. With all the recalls on toys these days, our choices should be made with safety in mind. Have a good weekend.

I agree, and I think it's not just in America but all over the world!

There's an awful lot of toys being recalled recently so one has to be careful. Good job with the theme.

To add to the ridiculousness, I heard on the news yesterday, (this is NOT a joke!) that the fat police have deemed Santa a bad influence on our children and are trying to get him banned from the malls, at least in his present "fatness." What does this tell kids about obesity in general? Fat people are of no value.
I'm so far off the PC wagon I'm about ready to take up smoking again and walk around eating lard.
Good Grief, Charlie Brown! When's it gonna end?

That's a very clever take on the theme and something to think about.
Have a lovely weekend :)

I guess in this picture, there's another flexible. YOU! I am amazed how you keep your cool with a shrieking Tyler in your lap! :-)

..and Shelby. Flexible enough to make the best out of the situation by giving a really warm smile. Have a great weekend, Tisha!

Great submission! I'll be careful this holiday season too. I just did my first photo hunt ever, come check it out if you get a chance. Have a fantastic weekend!

Great awareness post!

Happy Weekend.

My daughter also has that Easy Bake Oven as a gift from her grandma. My daughter has played with it but we haven't tried to plug it in. Never knew it's been recalled.

Great post! I'm terrified that everything I'm buying for Christmas is either going to get recalled or hurt my children. We were affected by the Thomas the Train recall. My son cried for James everytime we passed the post office. I really wish there was something that we parents could do to get the toy makers and the government to sit up and take notice and do something about this. It's crazy that this is what we've done to our country.

I feel for parents who have to be so careful about kids' toys...toxic paint, electric ovens, etc. Great post!

Not only a great choice, but a timely message at this time of year. To be honest all of these recalls on kids products scares me. I mean what is still out their in toy boxes that we are not even aware of ...

Looking at the photo I love the expression on your son's face in the background. Priceless!

Schmoop said...

Great pic, but if you keep posting such sweet shots, I'll have to go to the dentist. Cheers!!

Cynthia said...

Amen to that! I have never paid so much attention to what I am buying for everyone...it's really hard. Good luck to all of us.

Yes, in some ways, society is becoming too flexible. Yet in others, it isn't flexible enough!

Anonymous said...

Yep there are a lot of things that it would be good to take a rigid stance on....

Head Gaggler said...

Yes I agree with you. Buying gifts this year has been the hardest yet. I am staying away from traditional toys and trying to find more movies and activities for the kids instead. Great photo!

that is so sad i used to love my easy bake oven

I completely agree-I have one of those sitting on my bakers rack in the kitchen.
I have decided that this year-I will only buy well made toys that are NOT electronic or battery operated(with the exception of one).I thought this would be difficult but-it hasnt been,it has actually been SO refreshing,

I couldn't agree more...I'm really concerned about all of these toys from China. It makes me wonder how long this has been really going on.

LivG said...

Very thought provoking!

Hi Tisha. Before anything else, I hope the kids are feeling much better now.

This is a good reminder. We should really be extra cautious of the toys we buy these days. Glad nothing bad happened to Shelby because of that toy.

Take care!

Well said! I completly agree!

Very creative use of flexible, I would have never thought of using it that way.
