If you're a traveling parent, I would say this is a must have item. Although the flight attendants may give you grief about wearing it, there is a tag stitched right on the vest stating the FAA regulations stating that it can be worn during cruising altitude, but not during take off and landing.

Spam - A Thorn In My Side
There was a time when I lived for comments, I would check my mail, stats, comments every few minutes. I wanted a high PR ranking, I wanted to be a top blogger. I wanted everyone to know my name. Then along came child number 2 and 3. So much for that idea! I no longer have time to sit down at the computer and visit other blogs so why should I expect them to visit me. Frankly, I don't. I have contemplated shutting down my blog on several occasions, and then I realized that the whole reason I began blogging in the first place was to document for my friends and family the goings on of my family...the good, the bad, and the extremely crazy! I had a realization that nothing else really mattered.
Sure, I am like a lot of other "mommy" bloggers. I like to do the occasional paid post, or product review but I am surely not making a living from it. There are those of you that are, and that is great! I have three kids who I have to haul around to and from school, a business to co-manage, church, family, and frankly blogging just doesn't fit into my schedule much anymore. I do facebook a lot simply because it is quick, mobile, and I can do it on my phone while I'm waiting in the parking lot at school, in the doctor's office waiting room, or even sitting on the toilet (oh, come on - you know you do it too!!!) I have connected with many bloggers there and still keep up with them.
This blog is loaded with comments these days, but not the kind of comments that one would hope for. They are SPAM comments. Thankfully my spam filter catches most of them. A big part of them are inappropriate content for this blog! But there are those that occasionally slip through. You know the kind - "Nice blog", or "Great post". You even get some that will actually leave a comment that might half way look like they read the post. But, the thing is...IT IS STILL SPAM!!! It chaps my hide and I can't stand it.
People are being PAID to leave spam on your blog!!! Did you know that??? It irks me that THEY are making money by leaving comments and back links on MY blog. It doesn't fly with me and spammers beware that your comments WILL be deleted from this blog so don't waste your time or mine!!! Don't think you are going to get a free ride from this blog. It ain't happening...not now, not ever!

The Day I Became A Mother
On this day eight years ago I gave birth to my first child. I became a mother for the first time. I must say that it was one of the happiest days of my life. The others being the day I gave birth to my second and third children, and the day I wed my husband. I have many blessings in my life, but by far my family is my most cherished. This morning as I was fixing Shelby's hair I explained this to her, that 9 years ago I was not a mom. Just a wife! Her response: "That's creepy!"
My sister and I had big plans to go to wal-mart for the "Blitz" sale. They had a Christmas tree half price. Since I had thrown away my old ratty one the year before, it was VERY important to me that I get a tree for my soon to be baby girl. She must have a beautiful tree for her first Christmas. I was up around 4ish. I woke my sister up and we got ready for the adventure. I also woke hubby up because he had not been hunting all year because he was afraid he'd be in the stand when I went into labor. So, he got all his gear gathered up and headed to the woods as we headed to the battle grounds of wal-mart!
Little did we know that we'd be there for a while. At 5:02pm our first little bundle of joy arrived after a long 10 hours of labor. It was worth every hour, every minute. I would do it again in a heartbeat for her. If someone is out there reading this that does not have children, you cannot understand the love that you can have for another human being. Children are the greatest gift that God can give us. Don't get me wrong, I love my husband and I always will. But, the love you have for your children is so different. I look at them and think to myself, WOW I helped to create this life. How in the world could I have had a hand in something so perfect!? (Then they wake up, but while it lasts, it's a good feeling)

I'm Daydreaming Again!
Tyler will start Kindergarten in the fall. He's a young 'un. He will just barely be 5 when he starts. He went for screening a couple of weeks back and he scored a bit lower than they would like for him to score. It was no surprise to me being that he is younger, thus they suggested summer school for him. He started last Friday and he will go for the entire month of June.
Also for the month of June my little sister from Texas will be staying in Arkansas. She is a pleasure to have, but being that she is only 11, it's mostly like having a 4th (GASP!) child. It's more laundry, extra cooking, etc. But the good thing is that with her being 11, she is also a very good helper, thank goodness!
To say that things are busy for me could quite possibly be the understatement of the century! School, work, kids, laundry, cooking, cleaning, etc. It's enough to make me want to curl up in the fetal position over in the corner!!!
Sometimes I wish that I could clone myself to where I could enjoy my kids, ya know do all of the fun things with them...go swimming, to the park, watch a movie, visit the zoo, play a little baseball in the front yard...those things that I do not have time to do. My clone could do all of those things that I hate to do like laundry, grocery shopping, cleaning the toilets, doing the floors, cleaning out the pool, etc! Wouldn't that be nice?!?! Seriously! Even if I could just have a cleaning contractor keep up with the overwhelmingly large amount of housework I have to do I would be a happy woman! I had a cleaning lady for a while, and I must admit that on the days when she came, I looked forward to coming home to a CLEAN house. It was nice knowing that when I opened the doors, the smell of freshly mopped floors and clean linens filled the air.
Unfortunately, I'm living in the real world now where things are as they were when we left them this morning...in complete and total disarray! I suppose I have this to look forward to for the next 16 years or so, right?
...at least a Mom can dream!

Mommy Invented Products - Television Appearance

Baby Update & Stuff...
I am officially on the countdown! As of yesterday, we have one month until baby girl's expected delivery. NO, we still have not chosen a name. There are still tons of things that I need to do besides pick out a name for this baby. We have yet to complete her temporary nursery. I do have most of the big ticket items either bought or borrowed that I will need for her immediate arrival so that is a load off, (thanks to Becca and Charie). The other few things I plan on purchasing this coming weekend so that we can get her crib set up and be prepared should she come early, although I am NOT holding my breath on that one. My next task is to work on getting private health as well as life insurance quotes. It's hard to get an insurance quote from a company when you have to start out by saying, "Well, I'm pregnant BUT". They immediately say that they can't give you a quote until after the pregnancy due to complications that might occur with you or the unborn child. Thanks for giving me ANOTHER worry, buddy!! The good news is that I can carry my work insurance (for a higher price of course) for up to 18 months after my departure.
Anyhow, things are coming along and my replacement at work is due to start on Monday. I hope she doesn't back out on me before then. I am looking forward to getting her trained so that I can relax the week before the baby is due.

Girl's Day Out
Saturday was a wonderfully fun girls day out for myself and my five year old daughter, Shelby. My husband and our son went horseback riding. They left out around 7 am. Since I got them up and helped get Tyler ready I made coffee and stayed up. Shelby and I headed out fairly early. We got most of her school supplies. There were two things on her list that we couldn't find anywhere, so I will have to keep my eyes peeled for them in the coming weeks.
We got the school supply shopping finished up and took the loot back home to keep the crayons and the like from melting in the 100+ temperatures. After this we headed out for the fun stuff...BABY shopping. I had a gift certificate in hand from a lovely friend so it was most definitely burning a hole in my pocket. I stopped along the way and picked up my sister and her daughter. We had lots of fun shopping for a new baby. It's so amazing all of the gadgets and accessories that they have now versus even three years ago when Tyler was born. I was shopping for things that I knew I needed like bottles, pacifiers, etc. I don't have anything. I blindly gave away every single baby item that I owned after Tyler's birth swearing that I'd not need any of it again. Now, it's a fresh new start for us. That's what happens, I guess.
The photo shows the haul we made it home with. I was pretty excited about all of the items that we purchased and glad to know that we're getting a little closer to getting the necessities that this little one will be needing when she makes her arrival in late August (or early September). The following items are in the photo:
*A Glider Cradle I will take this to Brien's office after the baby is born when I begin my "new job"
*A trendy diaper bag This is why I took my sister. She is WAY trendier than me and she picked out the diaper bag. I'm a little worried that it might not be big enough.
*Pacifier(s) We got a couple of different styles hoping to accomidate the new baby's likes.
*Bottles - the new playtex vent aire to keep the air from reaching the baby's tummy because we all know how BAD that is!!! I've not tried these before. Any other new mommies have experience with them?
*A small bag to carry wipes and diapers in for a quick trip in and out.
*A Boppy Cover - my Boppy is old (a hand me down) and I've never had a cover for it.
*A hooded baby towl w/washcloth - although I do have these still on hand the one pictured was a really cute little gift set that I couldn't pass up. 
It was a hot day for shopping, that is certain but we enjoyed ourselves and with weather like this who needs Phentermine. The heat will certainly zap the pounds off of you. Well, that is if you don't stop at Sonic on the way home for a bananna split blast. Ah well...we'll worry about that after the baby is born, right?! It was worth every single bite.
