Don't Pee In The Holy Water

Yesterday in the swimming pool, all was right with the world as I floated on my raft soaking up the sun.  I heard Tyler tell Shelby he was going to Baptize her in the pool.  She agreed only if she could do the same to him.  I snapped this photo (with my Iphone) as the ceremony began.

Photobucket

They would hold one another's nose and then push them off the ladder into the water. Thank goodness real baptisms don't go this way!  It went on this way for a few minutes until one pushed another a bit too hard and then (as usual!) it ended in fighting, so we had to move on to something else and the ladder was banned for a while.

My Little Guy

Yesterday afternoon when we got home after a long HOT, humid Arkansas summer we decided we'd go for a swim. Shelby, Tyler, and I hopped in the pool. They played for a while as I vacuumed the bottom of the pool. We swam for about an hour and a half and the kids were ready to get out. I put some chemicals in the pool and cleaned out the filter as the kids played nearby in on their swing set the back yard.

Tyler informed me as I was finishing up that he was ready to go inside because mosquitoes were biting him. We came inside and they got in the bath tub while I changed out of my swim suit. Tyler was saying that his mosquito bite was hurting and Shelby informed him that it was red.

I looked down at his leg to discover that this poor child did not have a mosquito bite, but had been stung by a red wasp! He NEVER did cry. I could not believe this. He is such a tough, brave little boy. I am 30 years old and usually when I get stung by one of those things I go crazy and there are tears shed. They hurt so bad! For this 2.5 year old little guy to not even whimper made me so proud of him. I quickly washed him up because I figured the hot water didn't make it feel any better. He got out and it swelled a bit, but thankfully he was okay and had no side effects from it.

What a brave little one!

My 59th
This Week's Theme: Water

Unfortunately I have not taken any photos of the kids in the pool since it is now full of water.
This was a shot of it as we were filling. I let the kids get in and splash around.
They had a great time and it was a wonderful photo op.
You can see the rest of the photos here.

Glub Glub...Ouch!

Today I was in a bitchy mood at work. It was just one of those days where I didn't want to get out of bed, then when I did I just wished that I could've went back.

When we got home this afternoon, Shelby and I wanted to go for a swim. Tyler chose not to swim, so I let him play in the back yard while we gals played a bit in the pool. I had taken my cell phone out and put it in my shoe so that I could keep up with the time while we were out there. Somehow Tyler found it and he'd climbed up the ladder and in the blink of an eye he threw it in the pool. I quickly grabbed it up and pulled it out of the leather case. It had been completely submerged in the water. I shook it out a bit and threw it down on the ground outside the pool hoping the sun would dry it out. Well, it's still not working. So, I guess my cute little pink Razor will have to be replaced. :(

As if that wasn't bad enough, after we got out of the pool, I was sprinkling some chemicals in the pool and Shelby had gone over to where Tyler was playing and slid down the slide. She still had her arm floaties on a heard her scream. I looked over and her arm was stuck between the bottom of the slide and the leg of the swing set. She finally got the floatie unstuck freeing her arm and she came running over to me holding her ear. She was screaming, "That red fly bit me". OH SHIT!!! It was a wasp. It got her twice on her little ear. By this time it was very red and begining to swell. Poor little thing. She screamed a while. I know it had to have hurt her pretty bad.

Hubs went out later on and it turns out that there was a nest of them under the slide! He sprayed it down with some wasp and hornet spray. Hopefully that'll keep them away. As for Shelby, she's feeling better now.

Poop in the Pool

Today was our first day back in the pool since the pump went out and it was green and slimy. It's still not completely cleared up, but every other day I've been dousing it with chemicals and it's getting there. It was pretty clear until I stirred it around last week and got the green algae from the sides and such. Anyhow I the kids were really antsy to get back in there, so we did today. We had a fun time 'till someone pooped in the pool. Tyler had gotten out and wanted to go in the house and I told him that he had to stay outside with Shelby and myself. He was upset about it, but eventually got back in the pool. He swam over to me and I was holding on to his bottom when I felt a...lump. I asked him if he pooped and he said "NAAAAWWWW!" I checked and by the time I got a good look he had a bit of a brown oooze coming from his swimming diaper. (THANK GOODNESS FOR THOSE THINGS!!) It was the first time our pool has been pooped in...and hopefully the last! That may be one way to get rid of the algae! *LOL*

You Asked For It!

I've posted photos of the kiddos in the pool. I've also posted of the kiddos and hubby in the pool. Usually I'm the one behind the camera lens, so I'm not in many pictures in our albums. I've been getting lots of comments saying that ya'll wanted to see the kids with their mom in the pool. So, yesterday afternoon I asked hubby to come out and snap some photos of me with the kids. NO make up, wet hair, in a swimsuit!! *LOL* I can't believe that I am doing this...he took about 15 photos, and these were the only ones that I found "suitable" for posting! So, here ya go:

Weekend Update

So, I hope you all had a fabulous weekend! The kiddos finally talked Dad into getting in our new pool. So, here's a slide show of some fun we had. I was behind the camera, so I'm not in the shots but there are some good ones. What did ya'll do this weekend?

Can You Spot the Frog?

This little guy lives around our pool.
He's sitting on the edge every day.
When we swim, he gets down in the grass and waits
'till we finish to jump back up there!
Too funny.

It's up and full...finally!

Well, it's finally up and full (well sort of) of water! The kids and I got in it this afternoon. Shelby loves it. Tyler was not as thrilled about it. The water is still pretty cool, so that may be part of his distaste. It was also a bit windy when we were swimming which made it a bit colder on us. We overfilled it and unfortunately it was not sitting level, so one side is not floating on the top like it should. When we got in and I walked over to the side that was overfilled...the water began to rush out of the pool!!! We lost quite a bit of water out of it and the back yard was quite soaked. The pool is not as deep as what it should be b/c of this. It is a good thing for Shelby, though because she can bearly touch the bottom with it like it is. So, that works out well for her. I guess we'll just deal with it like it is b/c I do not see us emptying it out and fixing it now!! I don't have any pics of us IN the pool 'cause when we swam earlier hubby was not outside with us so he didn't take any photos. Hopefully I'll have some in a day or so, though.

Family Fun Saturday

We got up early yesterday morning and headed out the door with not much of an agenda. It was a fun day and something we don't do often. We have really became quite home bodies on the weekend and have decided that we don't need to do that b/c our children will only be small once and they will grow up and move away leaving us wishing that we'd done more with them. But, I'll have to admit that having one that's almost two keeps us from doing things b/c I think to myself that I don't want to have to worry about him. Anyhow, we went to a flea market. It's huge, and it seems like it's almost doubled in size since last time I had gone. Shelby was crying b/c she was hot and tired after we'd only been there a bit. We found a gal who had a cheap stroller ($2) and bought it. She rode in it, but then we created another problem...NO not that Tyler wanted to ride, but that he wanted to push her and she was too heavy, PLUS we were on gravel, dirt, and really uhstable ground. So, therefor he'd get mad b/c he couldn't make her move. Then we would try to help him and he'd get mad b/c he didn't want any help! It was quite a site. Anyhow, we left there in search of a large 2 seater stroller because we'll be going on vacation (sort of) next month for my family reunion and we'll be staying in a historic town, Hot Springs, Arkansas that would involve lots of walking to tour. So, we figured if we got a good stroller (one of those with bicycle type tires) we'd be better off. We went to Wal-Mart and they didn't have any. Although somehow we did manage to spend $79! *LOL* We left there and went to my favorite place, Academy Sports. They have the largest shoe store in the state of Arkansas! It is so totally my favorite place to shop. They have just about everything under the sun in there, with the exception of strollers (which I was sure they had *wink wink*). I did get a really cute pair of sandals. I also managed to finally break my husband. I've been working him all year to buy a swimming pool (for the kids). Well, he finally broke down. He got a MONSTER of a pool. It's one of those that you inflate the top ring and just let 'er fill. The ring will float as the pool fills. I don't know how many gallons that thing holds, but we started filling it at about 7 last night and it's STILL filling!!! Stupid me pulled the hose a bit last night 'casue I didn't want it to flop out and I guess when I did I put a kink in it so it bearly trickled out last night. :( Grrr...
Anyhow, we're looking forward to a lot of fun in it this year. Since Tyler's 2nd birthday is in August and we have a big 'ole swimming pool (18x48) I think it's only fair to have a "swimming party" for his birthday! It's going to be great fun. I am still lost on a theme, though?! Any ideas?

Well, my coffee's done...I'm up all alone, so I'd better get me a cup before the kiddos wake up. Hope ya'll have a great Sunday!

Pool Pictures

No, he didn't pee...he lost his gum!

They could not wait!!! They had to test the water...it was COLD!

This is what it looked like this morning...*SIGH*

We've got a long ways to go thanks to my kinked hose last night. :(
