Happy Valentine's Day!

I received this beautiful arrangement of roses yesterday at the office.  It was totally unexpected.  I love my husband, but normally he's not much of a planner.  He's usually right in the middle of the sea of men shopping the day before or the day of Valentine's Day.  This year, he thought a head at least a few days!  Since he knows I am on a diet, he didn't do the chocolate covered strawberries that I normally get.  For that, I am thankful because I have NO self control when it comes to eating those things.  But, I tell ya this time of year, a person could seriously consider switching careers into the flower business! The guy that brought my flower arrangement yesterday had a tough time finding mine in a van of roses!  I also got a mani-pedi.  How do I know this already, you ask?!  Well, my brilliant husband bought it with his business debit card.  I do all of our banking online, so yesterday when I was doing the daily report, my favorite nail place showed up in the bank register, so I knew what he was up to!  So, a lesson to all of you men out there...USE CASH to buy gifts for your girls!  I still haven't used my massage he got me for Christmas, so I think maybe very soon I'll combine those gift certificates and have a "ME" day!

Shelby celebrated  Valentine's Day with her class at school yesterday. She had a great time. She came home with lots of awesome cards in her home-made box. I think she went into sugar shock on the way home due to the brownies, cookies, juice, and candy she consumed at the party and in the van. I thought back to my days in Elementary School. I loved the class parties, but V-day was always my favorite. I loved getting the cards. The candy was great too, along with the games but my absolute favorite was the card exchange.

Happy Valentine's Day, everyone from our house to yours.

Roller Skating Birthday Fun

Last Sunday was Shelby's 7th birthday. We celebrated by renting the local roller skating arena for our family and friends. The kids AND adults had a fun time lacing up their skates and gliding around the rink. We did this last year as well and it was great fun for all. This year, I chose not to skate. It's too much to try to skate and keep the birthday party rolling, with the drink and pizza distribution followed by cake and ice cream and then the opening of gifts. This all had to be accomplished in a 2 hour time slot, so things have to move swiftly in order for everyone to get to roller skate as well. Of course I have lots of pictures on Facebook, but I'll also share a few of them here for you:  (clicking the photo will bring it up in a new window so you can see a large version of each photo).

Thanks to everyone who came out to celebrate Shelby's special day with her. Thanks to my wonderful Mother-In-Law who made the most awesome cake to date! Thank you, Shelby for being my beautiful first born!!! I hope that your birthday was memorable.

Happy Birthday, Nephews!

It was a bit early, but in order for the entire family to be able to make it my sister celebrated Dominique's birthday this weekend. What a fun time we had spending with them on Sunday afternoon. They had a swimming pool set up for the kids that was the perfect size as well as some pretty cool sprinkler toys. We were there just a little over two hours and I took almost 300 photos. I guess it is pretty safe to say that I had a good time as well. The hardest part about snapping photos of kids playing in water is to keep the expensive digital gadgetry in the dry! I I might need to check into getting some best diet supplements since I had cake on Saturday and Sunday. To see more photos from Dominique's party, you can click here.

Saturday afternoon we celebrated my nephew, Dillon's birthday. He had a Mario birthday cake baked by my mother in law. This thing was so life like, I felt like I was 12 again sitting in front of my Nintendo for hours! My mother in law has an awesome talent in making cakes. She makes the cakes for all of our celebrations. She created my wedding cake, and has created every single birthday cake for our children. It's an honor for her master talent to be put to good use. Thanks, Memaw for making those birthdays that much more special with your awesome talents!! We had fun with Dillon and his brother Dakota. We got Dillon the new Wii Resort game and he was gracious enough to play with the kids. They had tons of fun and it was nice getting to spend some time with the in-laws.

Overall we had a fun-filled weekend! It was nice getting to spend time with the family and the weather was beautiful, so it made being outdoors that much more fun. I hope you all had a great weekend. We're looking forward to another great week back at school. I suppose I will be taking little Emily to the doctor today. She has been running fever, coughing, and sneezing with a runny nose all weekend. Of course since Tyler was sick last week, I am sure that she has probably contracted some form of what he had. Since she was sick with RSV last winter, her likelihood of getting it again is very high. Tyler's illness was only viral so there was nothing that we could do for him other than cough medicine and Tylenol. If the same rings true for Emily I am doing all that I can do for her. But, I am afraid that if I don't take her to the doctor, she might end up getting worse and I will be to blame. I'd rather be safe than sorry! I will update later on her condition.

I don't want to be Pregnant!!!

Four years ago today, I can tell you that I was more than ready to NOT be pregnant!  Being pregnant in Arkansas during the summer was a nightmare.  It was hot and I was miserable.  I was ready to carry my baby in my arms and not by belly.  I couldn't wait to see that precious face.  Brien and I had still not decided on a name for this baby boy.  I wanted Tyler Matthew and he wanted Matthew Tyler.

I remember the worry of bringing home another baby into our household.  Would I be able to handle the stress of two children?  I have been raising a girl for the last three years, how would it be raising a boy?  Am I really cut out for this Mommy stuff?!  All of these questions were running through my mind.  Okay, I know it was a bit late to be thinking of this, right?  But, instead of getting precious sleep the night before I was to be at the hospital at 5:30 to begin the induction of my second child I was lying in bed with these sort of questions running through my mind.

Obviously everything turned out okay and although raising a boy is quite different than a girl, the differences have their pros and cons but I would not have it any other way!  I love my little man.  He gives the greatest hugs and kisses.  He loves his mommy "way far top of the moon and back".  I cannot imagine our family without him!

Tomorrow we will celebrate Tyler's 4th birthday with family and close friends.  We're having a back yard pool party with a Transformer's Revenge of the Fallen Theme.  We're all looking forward to it.  Tyler's got some great surprises in store.  He's going to be super excited when he receives his gifts!  For today, I'm busy with party prep.  House cleaning, laundry, last minute shopping (for food, etc), setting up tables and chairs in the back yard, making treat boxes, sacking up gifts, and I'm sure there are many more things that will pop up and cause me much stress between now and tomorrow.

In the meantime I hope your day is grand and that you'll stop by tomorrow and wish Tyler a very happy 4th Birthday!  :)

Ice Skating Birthday Girl on Horseback (or something like that)

Yes, I am still alive. Mickey Mouse didn't kidnap me this weekend @ Disney on Ice. We survived, although I have decided that I should buy the Disney on Ice memorabilia at wholesale prices for my kids by the truck load. I think I could do this and still come out cheaper than I did buying a few things at the show! I did not get to meet up with a fellow blogger. Although she and I had seats fairly close to one another, we never did see each other. It was a crowded place, and we got there right at showtime so we had no time for mingling. I'm sad about it. But, maybe the opportunity will arise that we can meet up again soon. We do live in the same state, so surely it'll happen!!! I took LOTS of photos and I am uploading them to Facebook. As always you can click the photo to take you to the album and see the rest of the pictures (if you haven't seen them already).

After Disney on Ice Saturday, we went to the birthday party for my photogenic niece, Haven. She turned 4 last weekend. We had a fun time with her and the rest of her family. She reminds me so much of my little sister at that age. She's a cutie and the things she says just crack me up. She got upset with her younger brother because he blew the candles out on her cake. After she slapped him she proclaimed that we had to re-sing the birthday song so that she could blow her candles out again. *LOL* She is too funny. I am also putting pictures from her party on Facebook as well. Are you seeing a trend here?

Sunday we had a wonderful afternoon riding horses! Shelby and I rode together on "Blackie" while Tyler rode with his Papaw (my father in law) on "Sierra". Hubby rode on "Delilah". The weather was great. The wind was just enough to keep us cool. We saw turkey and deer while on the trail. I managed to bring home a bit of a sunburn as well. I didn't even think about wearing any sunscreen. I'm not in the sun as much as my children so I got red, but thank goodness they didn't. Shelby is big enough that she can't ride in the saddle with us, but inexperienced enough that we won't let her ride alone. She rode in the "buddy saddle" behind me. I think she had the most comfortable ride in the house!

It looks like I'm taking a drive to Texas this weekend to see some family who I've not seen in a long time. I'm a bit excited and nervous as well. I will set LATSOF to auto post, so be sure to play along and visit one another. I'll try to stop by and see your skies when I get in Sunday or Monday morning. My apologies to Mo for not playing in this week's Manic Monday and to Mary for not posting a Ruby Tuesday photo. It's been a busy week getting prepared for the trip. I hope you all have a beautiful week.

Clicking on the photos in the post will take you to my Facebook page to see the rest in the set.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Yesterday was my beautiful Kindergartener's Valentine's Day party. We had a fun time celebrating the occasion with her class. There were enough cookies, chips, and treats to make your teeth fall out right before you crashed from your sugar high!!! You can see Shelby going through her Valentines in the photo to the left.

Before the party, Shelby and her class participated in the 30th anniversary Jump Rope For Heart. I'll tell you one thing, there is nothing quite as comical as watching a gymnasium full of Kindergarteners trying to jump rope! Their method is as follows: quickly slam the rope over your head smashing it on the ground, once it hits the ground, hop over it, repeat with no rhythm. I did not take my video camera, but I wished that I would have because it was quite a interesting.

How are you spending your Valentine's Day? We've made no plans. It's just a typical Saturday around here. I'm watching a movie, blogging, and trying to get caught up on laundry...mostly at the same time. Whatever your plans, I hope that you have a wonderful day.

Another Party

I don't think I mentioned it here before, but I went to a meeting that the school had for parents about helping with school functions back at the first of October. Afterward, the principal mentioned that it was the perfect time for the volunteers to meet with the home room mothers and start planning the Halloween Fall Party. I looked for some mothers of children in Shelby's class. I found one and another two came over. When it was said and done, there were five of us. We each asked who the home room mother was. Nobody knew. There was one mother who had a child that had this teacher previously, she knew about planning parties because she'd been a home room mother that year. She went to talk to the teacher to find out who the home room mother was. She came back with grim news. There wasn't one. So, here were five women who had no leader. The other four of us were "first time" Kindergarten moms who knew nothing about planning a class party. I was willing to help all I could, but I did NOT want the responsibility to be thrust upon my shoulders. Thankfully this mom stepped up to the plate and volunteered to plan the party with the help of the other mom's and myself! It was a hit and the kids had a wonderful time.

Now it's time to begin to think about planning the Christmas Winter Party. I think that I would be more willing to step up and plan this one. I love Christmas. There is an awesome party planning site that can help with anything from Christmas Candy Recipes to party games. If you need expert advice, this is the place to be. Registered members can share party ideas and see photos, recipes, and videos from other members. I'll keep you posted on the planning of this party. Hopefully the planning and execution will go as smoothly as the previous party!

Tomorrow's The Day!

Tomorrow, my little guy will celebrate with family and close friends his 3rd birthday! He's very excited about his "John Deere Tractor Party". There will be cupcakes, ice cream, candy, party favors, followed by swimming! Look for lots of pictures to follow...you know me! :)

Shelby's Birthday Party

Saturday was Shelby's much anticipated 5th birthday party. She will not officially be a full fist of fingers in age until Thursday. You can read about my "Black Friday" shopping experience and her birth here. She had a wonderful party. She was surrounded by family and friends who brought her some very special gifts. She received the long awaited Shrek the 3rd as well as Hairspray which she's watched three times already (Thanks Aunt "Lulu"). She got a "Step Step Dance Game" (this is her official name for it). It's a game of Twister, only it comes with a CD and you have to listen to the moves and repeat. She challenged me to a friendly game and whipped my butt. I tired out after the first two rounds. It was quite a work out. I am thinking that maybe I should cancel my Curves membership and just play this three times a week with her. I might be more likely to attend the game sessions than the work outs. She got countless "dress up outfits" and "girlie things" like make up and fingernail polish (THANKS Aunt Charie...NOT). She got some High School Musical figurines that sing the theme songs and she really likes them. We saved the best gift for last. She has named him Oscar (in honor of the ever so famous weiner). He is a black and red daschund, a/k/a "weenie dog". He is really sweet and we all love him to pieces. He came from a breeder, so he's semi-potty trained. I think he's going to fit into our family just fine. He gets along great with JJ so far. The gray kitty (Shelby finally named it Cradle Moon) will not come into the house now. It is scared out of it's mind of this dog. She was really surprised and she loved it. Overall she had a great party and I believe that her guests enjoyed themselves as well. For those of you who read this that attended...THANK YOU for coming and sharing in her special day. It means a lot!

Weekend Recap

ImageChef.com - Custom comment codes for MySpace, Hi5, Friendster and more
After the 24 hour bug flew through our house, we have all survived and since passed it on to some other loving members of our family. We had great fun this weekend at two separate birthday parties. We celebrated with my cousin the first birthday of his daughter. She is so cute and she had great fun opening her gifts. The joy in her eyes as she realized that there were fun toys beneath that wrapping paper was too cute.

This afternoon we went to my niece's fifth birthday party at a bowling alley! What fun we had. The kids and parents alike had a great time bowling. Katie got a total of 3 Ratatouille movies! She opened the one I got her first. Then the following three gifts were the same thing. She wasn't too upset about it. I told her that she just had a free pass to go to the store and pick out two more movies. Since Shrek 3 comes out Tuesday, I think I know what one of her choices will be!

The girls had their parties a bit early. Katie will turn five on the 18th which just so happens to be the day before I turn 30. No, I will not be having a party, in fact I've decided I am not having any more birthdays. *LOL*
