Horseback Riding and Modeling
We're recovering from an afternoon of horseback riding with the kids. We had a fun time. The weather was nice, although we got rained on a bit, it was just enough to keep us cool. We saw some deer and beautiful countryside. The horses were all well behaved. Pictured from left to right are Jeannene (and Tyler behind her) on Sierra, Me on Delilah, and Shelby on Remedy. I explained to Shelby as we rode that we are lucky to get to enjoy such beauty and nature because there are people that live their whole life and not get to ride a horse and see such beautiful sights. They should be thankful to be so lucky! I've uploaded the rest of the photos to Facebook (as always) and you can find them here. I have solidified the username crazyworkingmom (WHOO HOO) @ Facebook.Brien and I enjoyed a weekend without the older two kids. Emily was a joy on her own. She is really coming into her own and her little personality is just so amazing. I am so intrigued by the things that she learns daily and how much she changes. She is saying, "My Momma" now and it is the cutest thing! She is also a model now. She's featured on Girls Girls Girls, a wonderful Etsy site to get hand made hair accessories. You can click over to see her modeling two items: here and here (this is my FAVE accessory). I'm hosting a giveaway right now so if you want to win $20 worth of merchandise for this site, click the picture at the top of the page to take you to the giveaway post. You'll be glad you did!

Generation Gap
Since I have a 6 year old daughter, I am familiar with a lot of the things that my 10 year old sister likes such as the Jonas Brothers. My little sister was wearing a Tee shirt the other day that had one of the "Jo Bros" on it which became the center of quite a comical conversation:
Jeannene: So, who's your favorite Jonas Brother?
Me: Ummm...well, I like the curly haired one.
Jeannene: Nick?!!? He's my favorite!!
Me: No, the older one with curly hair.
Jeannene: Kevin? He's old.
Me: Well, I'm old!
Jeannene: He's like 30 or something.
Me: Well, I'm like 30 something.
Jeannene: You should date him.
Me: Well, I don't think my husband would like that. Besides, if I were going to date someone, I would soooooooo date Zack Effron!
...and just in case you were wondering, the "old" one is 22. *grin*

Just playin' catch up...
Another weekend in the books already. This weekend was the annual "Higgins" family reunion. My little sister from Texas is staying with us for two weeks. She got to see family that she hasn't seen in several years. It was a fun time and I enjoyed being in the company of other CrAzY family members! I have uploaded the photos to Facebook and you can find them here. In the collage below, are my sisters and I with my Dad. In the bottom photo is my Aunt who made those purses out of juice boxes. The girls loved them! We do an auction every year to raise funds for the next year. I won't say what the purses cost, suffice it to say that the reunion next year will be nice! *grin*
Overall we had a jam packed weekend filled with family fun. This has been a very busy summer for our family so far. It's tough to keep up with three kids as well as my sister being here. We're having a great summer and I'm enjoying my time with my little sister playing the Wii, listening to Mp3 players. I hope she's enjoying hers as well!

Ruby Tuesday

This was the scene at my office yesterday afternoon. While their mommy was
In other news, Emily (who is now 8.5 months old) has finally cut her first tooth. I am not sure which one it was because like her sister and brother before her, she cut two in at the same time. Now we're just waiting for the ear infection that usually follows. I was just getting used to sleeping the whole night through (well, mostly) and now here comes the teething monster. She is also crawling about now pretty well. It is simply amazing to me to see this little baby growing into such a big girl. It seems like only yesterday Tyler was trying to unscrew my belly button with a screwdriver to get his baby sister out...Good times, I tell ya...good times!
Shelby is officially a first grader now. She's been promoted from Kindergarten to the 1st grade. She is out of school for the summer. We've not made any big plans thus far, but we're all excited that we're going to have a visitor in a couple of weeks. My baby sister, Jeannene is coming to spend a couple of weeks with us in June. We can't wait for her to get here. We're looking forward to a fun filled summer.

Meet My Sister!
In this photo with me is my ten year old sister, Jeannene. I got to travel to Texas with my Dad to spend the weekend with her. We had such a great time. I haven't seen her since she was 5. It was great catching up with her. I discovered that she and my 6 year old daughter have a lot in common. She is going to come spend some time with us this summer and I cannot wait for her to get acquainted with my kids. She is a very well mannered young lady. Her mom has done a great job raising her. While we were in Texas, Dad and I stayed with his Aunt. She is such a fun lady and we had a good time catching up on old times with she and her adult children and grand children. The relationiship that they share is inspiring to say the least. They all live close to one another and see each other (or talk) daily! I hope that I have this same bond with my children when they are grown. She was a wonderful host and I came home with a couple of yummy recipes that I can't wait to try out. I only hope that they are half as good as the ones she made!
We had dinner at TGI Friday's where I didn't cheat on my diet. I had steak and veggies. Jeannene tempted me twice with a strawberry smoothie (my favorite!) and a cup of dirt (with gummy worms, chocolate pudding, and oreo cookies). Dinner was delicious and the conversation was great. It was nice catching up with Jeannene. Her mom (Dad's Ex-Wife) joined us as well and the conversation was fun. She's only a few years older than me so we had fun hanging out.
On Saturday we went to the Downtown Aquarium in Houston. Jeannene definitely made Dad and I feel our age. We were worn out by the end of the day. She had a great time petting sting rays and starfish, getting her face painted, and riding a ferris wheel. If you're in the Houston area, this is a great place to visit! It only cost $16 to get in and it is good for all day. There are lots of things to do outside including the aquarium inside as well. We had a wonderful lunch at the restaurant located inside of the aquarium. It was a bit on the pricey side, but the view was amazing and the dessert was out of this world. It was a chocolate brownie topped with vanilla ice cream, chocolate and caramel drizzles and a shark shaped cookie. The inside of the brownie was filled with warm oooey chocolate pudding and it was surrounded by Heath candy bar. Yup, you guessed it...I cheated on my diet with this one!
Sunday we had lunch at a local Mexican Restaurant where I once again cheated on my "low carb" diet with enchiladas, queso, salsa, guacamole, and to top it all off...a strawberry margarita! I haven't had the guts to weigh in yet. I guess I need to bite the bullet and just start fresh.
It was a fun weekend, but I am exhausted from the 16 hour drive (there and back). I think it'll probably take me a week to catch up with myself! I have uploaded pictures to my Facebook and Flickr so if we're friends at either place you've probably already seen them. If not you can click the pictures and it'll take you to to the Facebook album.
