Ike's Wrath
We're fortunate that our home was not damaged during the remnants of hurricane Ike that we received here in central Arkansas, but our evening was cut short by the threat of severe weather moving our way. We'd taken the kids to the County Fair. They both got to ride all of the rides of their choosing since it was arm band day. We were waiting for the rodeo and demolition derby to begin and dark, ominous clouds began to form over the fairgrounds. I sat idly by as people all around me were receiving phone calls from others with tornado spottings. My in-laws were keeping baby Emily and I had been checking in with them. Finally the emergency sirens in town began to sound so we made an early departure before the festivities began. The all clear was given before we'd even reached our home, but by this time I was shaken and did not want to go back. The kids were tired and we all decided just to continue our journey home to be with Emily should something occur later.
As we headed for bed, the winds had really began to pick up but there were no more tornado warnings, thankfully. As I made Emily's bottles throughout the course of the night, I would check out the windows and some of the trees were leaning pretty heavily from the strong winds. As we got out to survey the damage this morning, there were lots of leaves, and a few branches in the front yard. Out back, my patio furniture was strewn about and the umbrella was across the yard. Thanks for asking, Bee.
The swing sits on the front porch, so thank goodness it's fine! :)
I'm so glad no one was hurt. It's easy to fix things, but getting hurt or worse is not good. Have a great day sweetie. Big hug and lotsa lovies. :)
there is no way to explain how these storms work. I have seen houses flattened by andrew and a house across the street undamaged.
Wow. I'm glad no one was injured.
Glad everyone is okay & that the neighbors are being cool.
OMG!Thanks God everyone is ok!
Just some collateral damage...

I'm so sorry to hear of your tree - they are so precious and I'm sure (once you've cleaned up) it will be missed.
Wow ... that's scary! I'm glad no one was injured but feel sad for the loss of your tree!
Hugs and blessings,
I'm so glad you didn't suffer any serious damage, but more importantly, I'm thankful no one was hurt!
WOW That is crazy! I hope that everything worked out and that you were not affected any more than that!
Glad no one was hurt. Ike was crazy, it did more damage around here than Gustav and it came aground a lot farther away.
