Thursday Thirteen -"P"

What is something that a pregnant woman does at least once an hour? Okay, the answer is NOT to eat ice cream. Although that has to run a close second, right? The answer I was looking for is to take a trip to the restroom. This time of the year when the weather is SO hot, the key to keeping cool is hydration. Unfortunately with hydration comes urination! This comes more frequently for a pregnant woman anyhow, but drinking lots of water to keep cool only makes it worse. Upon one of my many trips to the restroom today, a Thursday Thirteen post popped into my head.

Thirteen other words for the duty of relieving oneself of urine.

1. Peepee (or Pee)
2. Whiz
3. Potty
4. Piss
5. Tinkle
6. Urinate
7. Take A Leak
8. Use the head
9. Water the lawn
10. piddle
11. Wee-Wee
12. micturate
13. drain the main vain (hubby came up with that one)

What word do you use when you're at home, work, with the kids? Are they all the same? I have found myself telling my boss before we go to lunch, "Hang on, I need to go potty". That's not very professional, but I ask my kids all of the time do they need to potty and it's a hard habit to break!

I believe that men sometimes also use the phrase "draining the weasel" but I could be mistaking it for a snake!

At work I simply say I need to go to use the ladies room or I try not to say anything at all because it seems that as soon as I think about going to the restroom, someone else beats me to it!

I love your list. That's one thing they forget to mention when you go to the doctor upon finding out you are pregnant.

A friend of mine use to say she was going to shake the "Dew off her Lilly"...lol. Funny list. Happy TT my friend.

Okay. In all my time doing T-13, this gets the award for "Very different and totally unexpected."

I actually just dropped by to thank you for your EC ad. I've really enjoyed seeing it in my sidebar all day.

Guys have tons of terms for peeing, have you noticed? And they like doing it outdoors.

Life is quite the adventure.

Sheesh … I do those things but I’m anything BUT pregnant!!!

I never understood when guys said "I've got to go see a man about a horse."
Huh? Just say "I gotta take a leak"
When I was growing up, my grandmother called urinating "pew-ee"
Like if you're jumping up and down with your hand in your crotch, Grammy would say "Do you have to pew-ee?"

Explains a lot, doesn't it?

This reminds me of years ago when Anita and I hung around together. We were always telling jokes and such. If one of us had to go the the bathroom, we'd say to the other one "Yur a one", to which would come the reply "Well yur a two" and of course next came "Yur a three"... back and forth it went until the person that didn't have to go said "Yur an eight".... and the one that did have to go said "don't mind if I do" and off she'd go to the bathroom.

Now I'll add to your list, hahaha:
- go to the can
- go to the loo
- answer the call of Mother Nature
- sit on the big white throne

And now... I must dash off to make my bladder gladder... hahaha.

Later, my friend.

We say "Gotta go Potty" all the time...whether at home, or in public. It's classy I tell ya.

My husband always asks why I have to announce when I have to pee. I do it involunteerily! "I gotta pee" just pops right out of my mouth. LOL! I like Alice's "bladder gladder", that is cute!

Loved your list, and these comments are a hoot!

Happy TT Sweetie!

Hugs,
Kimmie

Wow that's great Tisha! I couldn't come up with that many words for pee-pee! But I guess only mommies can do that! :)

Sometimes we will use Thai in public. But sometimes my hubby will say..'Gotta go send fax' or 'Gotta take the kids to the pool'. That's our code word. :)

Hootin' Anni - I've never seen a wounded elephant piss, but I'd imagine that any elephant pissing would be quite a spectacle considering their size!!!

SassyMommaBear - hang on, need to go potty!

NewWyFreeStuff - I'm sure they say it too, just maybe not as freely as you do. ;)

imadrammamamma - It's just a hard habit to break isn't it?

Kimmie - I'm just glad to entertain you, my dear!

Teach - I think there's a lot of things that mommies could come up with that maybe others couldn't, thanks to our children! *LOL*

LOL I have a set of 4 year old twins. At the end of my pregnancy trying to get off the couch every 30 minutes to go pee was like torture! Thanks for the laugh!

I use pee-pee mostly (with the Eric)! This was a funny TT!Loved it!Oh!And here in Portugal, sometimes we say «watering the plants»...
In the last month of my last pregnancy I wasn't able to sleep cause I was up every half hour to go to the restroom,so I know what you mean!

LOL! Sadly, that starts happening again once you hit 50...

We used "tee-tee" or "going to the bathroom" when the kids were small. Now they all say "pee" but I still don't really like that term -- don't know why...

Bless your heart! This time last year I was 5 months along with my daughter, and I'm so thankful I'm not preggo this year! And I find myself saying stuff like "i gotta go potty" to other people, and as soon as I say it, I feel like a moron! We just get so used to asking our kiddos to go potty, it's a hard habit to break!! Happy t13!!

You forgot "choke the chicken". :-)

I also say "go potty" as does every single mom I know, so I am sure everyone understands. I've also been talking to the check-out girl at Target and referred to myself as "mommy." It's all good! :-)
