Feelings...

PhotobucketThe best feelings are those that have no words to describe them.  Sunday morning my daughter and I sang a special together for the first time in church.  My daughter is 7 and is passionate about singing, but terribly shy.  She has indicated an interest in doing a special for a while now, and was going to sing with me once before but when the time came, she would not go on stage with me.

Sunday morning, I knelt down beside her and we sang Amy Grant's "Better Than an Hallelujah".  I can not describe the feeling I felt as the words flowed from our hearts in unison.  To say I was proud would be the understatement of the century!  I held back tears as I tried to focus on getting the words out and dealing with the emotions of the moment afterward.

What a beautiful thing is was being able to praise the Lord with my beautiful daughter.  She is beautiful inside out and she is a brilliant singer (and I am NOT a bit partial!).

After the sermon, many people told me what a blessing it was for them to watch us perform together and how they felt so blessed to have been a part of it.  :)  Watch out world, we just might be the next Judds!

what a special moment. I'm choked up just reading about that and picturing that moment in my head :)

I can completely relate. I am by far the worst singer in my family; however, I have a brother who seems to have stolen everyone's talents. My parents have always been so very proud of him. He leads the youth group and music at church (yeah! he's that good, and like you said I'm not a bit partial either [lol]). In reading your blog, I can imagine all the emotions that ran thru you, and what a proud mom you are. Continue to encourage your daughter, next thing you'll know she'll be shy no more.

I'm so glad you got to experience this with Shelby. My daughter and I have sung together many times, and we've recorded part of a CD together. The experience is a treasure that lives in a very special place in my heart. I hope you get many more opportunities to sing with your baby songbird. :)
