No Wonder It's Free!
I took advantage of McDonald's offer today. If you bought a medium or large drink you could order a Southern Style chicken biscuit or sandwich. The marketing material I've read on this item says that "people in the south love this stuff". Well, I'm sorry sirs but I beg to differ with you. I live in the south and in fact have lived in the south my entire life and I found absolutely NO satisfaction in this sandwich whatsoever! Even a pregnant woman needs a little warning when she's about to bite into something pickle saturated at 7 o'clock in the morning! McDonald's had chicken biscuits a few years ago and I loved to eat them for breakfast, so I was pleased to learn that they had made a come back. I was even more joyed when I learned that today you could snag one for free. I decided to take the biscuit with me to work and eat it there. The aroma escaped the bag as I made my drive across town and I thought I smelled a hint of pickle. I peeked into the bag and peeled back the wrapper and noticed no signs of a pickle. I thought to myself that maybe there was some pickle juice spilled on the bag. No harm no foul, right? I got to work and bit into my breakfast and thought I tasted pickle. I opened the sandwich again to see no pickles. I only got about half of this sandwich down before it made it's final resting place the office trash can. Even this pregnant woman couldn't handle pickles for breakfast...and you know how much I love fried pickles. Apparently there is pickle juice mixed into the batter. I just can't imagine how they think that anybody, much less a distinguished southerner *wink* would find a pickle saturated chicken breast in a biscuit a "southern style" treat. I'd have to give this two thumbs down. For me not to find something enjoyable about food, especially during my pregnancy has got to say something, right?! Don't waste your money. I'm just glad I didn't. I did get a yummy sweet tea out of the deal, so it wasn't a complete waste since I didn't pay for the biscuit.

I'm sorry you didn't like the biscuit Tisha!! A couple of friends and I went to McDonald's for lunch and got the regular chicken sandwich they were given away for free. It wasn't fantastic but it wasn't bad either. It had 2 pickles on it-and my friend gave me her 2 as well. :) I got a medium drink and a small fry (plus free sandwich) for $2.73. We then strolled over to Duncan Donuts for our free iced coffees. :)
Still, it was nothing like Chick Fil'a like they're trying to say it is...
Oh Yuck..ooooo...I'm sick just thinking about that.
gag
You gotta be crazy. Them chicken biscuits are too dang good! :P
Thanks for stopping by my blog, BTW! Nice to meet a fellow southerner.
I'm sorry you were disappointed with the biscuit. You're right, at least it was free so it wasn't such a waste.
oh i am sorry to hear this. i was hoping it would be good... drat!

I was looking at the photo (enhanced I am sure) and it looks good, did not try it, thanks for the test test, now I will not look at the photo
I had one this morning too. I drove through McDonald's just to get something to drink and didn't know about the free sandwich but they offered and I took it.
I loved it. Mine didn't have any pickles on it and it didn't have any pickle taste to it.
The chicken sandwich, though, was in some serious need of mayonnaise.
I'm a Southerner by birth and by nature so I was just tickled that they started selling sweet tea up here.
eeewww! That sounds disgusting! No wonder they're giving them away free, that can't get anybody to buy one. Nasty!
They put pickle juice in the batter? The sammich I saw advertised looked like it had pickles on it.
I like the chicken biscuit, but if it has pickle juice in the batter then I'm going to have to pass.
