Saturday Photo Hunt # 5 - Broken

This week's theme: Broken

Photo Explanation
This is a cup from an antique curio cabinet I inherited from my paternal Grandmother (now deceased). This cabinet (and most of it's contents) have been passed down for generations to the first grand daughter. My son decided to beat two of the cups together one afternoon and before I could tackle him, he had broken one! Way to go, huh!?!? This thing has survived generations, and he took one out!! *LOL*

ewwwwwwwwwwww, I woulda be heart BROKEN if my son did that. What a shame. All the generations and now this?!! But if you look at it like my hubby would [the turd that he is when I feel blue]--he'd say "It's just an object"!

Thanks for the visit.
Happy weekend.

I'm very sorry about your broken cup. You must have felt sad when it got broken but I hope that looking at your son's apologetic eyes somehow made you feel less sad.

Take care. Mine is up too.

Can it be repaired at all or is broken in such a manner that the pieces won't go back together again?

Such a shame but I'm sure your son didn't mean to do it - or at least I hope not!

AT least it looks like a clean break - you can still keep it for a planter or for potpourri.
I think probably your heart felt worse, and it is what really is broken in this picture!
Try to have a good weekend!

Children don't know their own strength. I guess it is their inborn exuberance for life. It is a beautiful cup.

Awww...it's a cute story though. And you know what? After you glue it back together, if you can, it will make an even lovlier story for generations to come, adding this little part in it. Your son is adorable, and I'm sure you and him, will smile when you tell the story "remember when...?"

Ah, that is such an awful feeling when something so precious breaks. Hope you are able to put it back together with little or now effect.

*OUCH* - We have a company called "Porcelain Clinic" in Duesseldorf... that´s the perfect place to take broken cups like this lovely one. I haven´t done this with the bowl Jersey had broken, because the bowl was only 5 bucks when I bought it... fixing will be about 25 bucks =)

I´d try to fix the cup (or let it be fixed LOL) - your son did a great job. Reminds me of keeping an eye on dog AND son from now on =)

Maybe you could glue it back together. It won't be perfect, but at least it isn't in little pieces. Just the handyman in me talking here.

When my five year old was two, she pulled a few of my late Mums ornamental thimbles from a display. Two of them broke. I was so upset. Mum had only died the previous Summer. I know how you must have felt...
