Family Time

They were talking on the radio this morning about family eating at the dinner table. Just wondering how many folks eat dinner as a family at the dinner table. Many people were calling in saying that they all eat in the living room around the television, or if they eat at the table, the television is on and they watch it. Our family tries to eat at the table most every night. Mainly it's because our kids are small and it's way too messy to eat anywhere else. What's your take on the subject?

My husband is gone all week so I usually plop myself infront of the tv with my dinner. But on weekends when he is home we eat at the table.

When I was growing up, we always ate dinner at the table, except for Sundays when we got to eat in the living room while watching Wonderful World of Disney.

Sometimes we do, sometimes we don't. We should probably do it more often.

What I think America is missing more than that is houses with a front porch. It's be nice to have a covered porch to go to in the evening to sit and talk, or pick my mandolin and banjo. That was a great place to talk too, back in the day.

We went through a spell of always eating BREAKFAST together when me and my brother were teenagers. Like actually sitting at the table. And now I feel like that's still the main meal at my mom's house. It was a nice way to start the day and to align on what was going to be going on that day. I think the real thing is just making time to actually have some conversations together! :)

Dining table, partly for reasons of mess (the boys are 5) but it's also nicer.
