Witty Banter From An (Almost Grown) 7 Year Old
"Did you just roll your eyes at me?" I asked.
Thinking very quickly on her feet, she replied very sweetly: "No, of course not. I was looking at the ceiling."

My little Emily Grace is sure growing up fast. She was 15 months on the 2nd of December. It seems like the past year has just flown by. She went from rolling over to walking in the blink of an eye. She has developed quite a fascinating personality as well. She loves to give kisses. She is smitten with her big sister and big brother, sometimes. But, mostly he aggravates her and she loves to hit him. She is also a climber. For instance we have gifts under the Christmas tree and larger boxes around the outter edge. Yesterday she stood on a stack of gifts to reach parts of the tree that she have been untouched by her little hands. She had such a glow on her little face that it was priceless. I didn't have time to grab my camera because I was afraid that she would fall into the tree and we'd have a major disaster on our hands. I have a feeling that once she can reach the door handle I'll have to
invest into one of those fancy-schmancy wireless security systems to keep her in the house!
I captured this photo last night as I made dinner. I guess since she's away from me all day when we get home in the afternoons she doesn't understand why I can't just sit around holding her. As I help Shelby with homework, she is usually either in my lap or crying to be there. When I prepare dinner, she's either holding on to my leg or doing just what you see in the picture...making a comfy bed at my feet! She loves her blankets and seems to have an infatuation with her coat as well. I love this baby girl. I cannot imagine our family ever being complete without her.
Emily Grace had her 6 month check up today. She's growing and developing normally. She's developed what the doctor called "stranger anxiety" only most of the time this sort of anxiety occurs more often than not with family because they are usually fascinated with strangers. She cried when the nurse weighed her and then again when the doctor began his examination. She is normally overjoyed and full of smiles for them. The doctor was proud of this accomplishment. My sister in law does not share his pride for she is Emily's latest cause of anxiety.
As you can tell in the picture she's still searching for her hair. She weighs in at a whopping 16lbs 12oz. She's in the 75th percentile for her height but right in the middle on her weight. Her lungs are finally clear after a run in with RSV followed by bronchitis. So, we can put away the dehumidifier (hopefully until next winter). She got three immunization shots today and she handled it very well. She cried when the injections were going in and then gave the nurse the sad puppy dog face afterward, but otherwise she did very well.
My little peanut 3.0 is growing so quickly. It seems like yesterday we were bringing her home from the hospital!
***My FIL got the phone lines fixed at my house (THANK YOU, RAY!!!!) tonight by re-wiring the house. So, I'm back online now. Whew!!!***
I cannot wait for tomorrow! Shelby, my five year old daughter and I have a morning planned at the spa! We're going for manicures and pedicures. My wonderful husband surprised me with gift certificates for the both of us and I am going to take her tomorrow morning. Since I can hardly see my toes, much less reach them I think now is the perfect time to have a pedicure. Shelby has never had one and since she starts Kindergarten on Monday, I think it'd be a perfect time for her to have her first one. We will probably have hair cuts while we're there, but I have not scheduled those as of yet. I am looking forward to some relaxation and some mommy/daughter time as well. It should be great fun for the two of us and I won't have to worry about taking out travel medical insurance for this kind of fun.
