17th Annual Susan G Komen Race For The Cure - Arkansas

breast cancer,Susan G Komen,Race For The Cure,Arkansas,Hanes,CrAzY Working Mom
Today, I proudly participated for the first time as a Team Captain in the 17th Annual Susan G Komen Race For The Cure - Arkansas! I walked 3 miles with some of my closest friends and family. I want to send a HUGE shout out to Hanes who sponsored our team shirts. We proudly sported the Hanes Passionately Pink For A Cure Logo on our shirts this year. Walking with over 45,000 women in this amazing event is such an honor. To see so many people banding together for one cause...a wonderful cause is so very touching. There were women of all ages participating in the race and men of all ages on the sidelines cheering us on! What a privilege it was to have worked hard to help raise $1,335 toward this awesome cause. I want to thank each and every girl who came out to walk with us in the Race For The Cure today and those of you who worked diligently to collect donations on your own and at Get Down Downtown where we raised $1,000. We had 39 team members to register for the race and of those 39 members, 24 showed up to walk and 3 came to run! We completed the entire 3 miles.  Unfortunately we never got to meet up with our runners. I can't imagine why in a crowd of 45,000+ people we could not find three women! (grin) A couple of my favorite shirts/signs said: "Squeeze a Boobie, Stop the war in My Rack" "Save 2nd Base". I have put together a slide show of some of the fun we had. Hope you have time to take a look at it. Thanks to everyone who helped make Team CrAzY For A Cure so much fun. You ladies are truly a blessing in my life and I am so excited to have experienced such a wonderful thing with you all. I am already planning next year's fun!!!

Smashing Goals For A Good Cause

Photobucket
Today was the first day of Get Down Downtown.  I've posted about it a couple of times  before.  But, it's a huge event here in Searcy, Arkansas.  Admission is free, and with three kids we are all about going to free events.  Not only is there awesome entertainment all day long, but there are over 100 vendor booths!  What an awesome event and I am so proud to be a part of it.  I have set up a fund raising booth with some of the girls from my team for the 16th annual Susan G Komen Race For The Cure.  We are selling pink lemonade, cookies, and various items to raise money to reach our team goal of $500.  I am proud to say that on the first night we have surpassed our goal.  We have raised $447.50 and we still have one more day to go.  We've raised $85 online, so we've exceeded the goal.  Perhaps we'll just double it!!!  Keep your fingers crossed for us.  If you're out and about in Searcy or nearby, come on over to Get Down Downtown, stop by and see us.  We're the both with all of the pink.  You can't miss us!!!  Quench your thirst and spoil your diet!  You can see more photos on our Facebook Fan Page and while you're there "Like" us to stay updated.

Race For The Cure

Photobucket
I am putting a team together for the October 16th Susan G Komen Race For The Cure.  This will be my first time to be a team captain and I am very excited.  I am getting an overwhelming response for team members.  I have been fortunate enough to be getting a team outfitted in shirts by the awesome folks at Hanes!  I need to come up with a name for my team.  This is why I am posting.  I need your help!!  The team will be comprised of mothers, daughters, friends, family, teachers, students, etc.  It's a variety of folks all coming together for a great cause.
