My Waiter Gave Me Crabs...
My husband, Brien and I had the pleasure of visiting a Joe's Crab Shack this weekend for the first time. We both enjoyed it. I danced with the staff to the Cha Cha Slide. I think I only slightly embarrassed my husband. One of my favorite reality shows is "The Deadliest Catch" where the crewmen of crab fishing boats risk their lives to gather crab from the Bering Sea for lucky folks like us to eat. It was quite comical to watch us (first timers) try to figure out how to get the succulent meat from that horrid shell. It was quite delicious. After I had already finished only a small portion of my massive bucket of seafood with potatoes and corn, the waiter came over and showed us how to break the leg so that the meat comes out in one, nice scrumptious piece. Thanks for that, dude.We had a wonderful time while in Louisiana for two days. It was a nice break from the monotony of trying to find affordable health insurance and the other woes of owning a small business. We visited the Boardwalk and did some shopping. Brien got to visit his favorite store, The Bass Pro Shop. He didn't like it as much as the one in Springfield, but it was good enough for him to fill up a cart! We had a nice break from the kids and spent some quality time with one another. That is always nice. The kiddos were in good hands with Brien's Mom and Dad. They love staying. In fact, Tyler was reluctant to come home. We had to bribe him by telling him we'd bought him some things! He was ready to go back after he got the goods.
I was ready to be back home, yesterday. I did miss my kids quite terribly. My best friend lost her grandma this morning, so I am going to visit with her and her family in a bit. Please keep Becca and her family in your prayers. They've had a rough week. I love you, Bec and I hope you know that.
Happy Sunday, all.

That's something that's always stopped me from trying Lobster and Crab - I wouldn't know where to start with them! Glad you enjoyed your break. x
We ate at our local Joe's Crab Shack once, but it didn't work out so well and we never went back ...
You know what's a lot of work? Maryland blue crab. I would label them "more work than they're worth" in fact.
Sorry about your friend's grandma.
Now that is a blog title.
My condolences to Becca and her family.
We don't have a Joe's Crab Shack around here, but I see the commercials all the time because we have satellite television. I've never had to shell for my crab; I always eat it already de-legged and in lump form.
How fun. As long as you only slightly embarrassed Brien then it's okay.
Have a terrific day honey. Big hug and lotsa lovies. :)
I do love the show Deadliest catch, but I'm not ready to try eating crabs just yet. When I have eaten out with friend who ordered crab legs, it seems like just too much work.
An Arkies Musings
Joe's is one of my favorite places as well. However, if you're ever in Dallas, Houston, Austin, or San Antonio, you MUST look up Papadeaux's Seafood Kitchen and Papasito's Mexican Cafe. They are INCREDIBLE!!! Papadeaux's specializes in New Orleans Cajun.
I love Deadliest Catch, too! Don't know if I could eat 'em though. Do they taste like lobster? lol.
I went to a Joe's for the very first time while visiting my mom in Florida last year. I would kill to have one near me.
I believe it is in the marriage contract that embarrassing your spouse is allowed but only if done "slightly"!
Sounds like you had a great time and had a chance to rejuvenate a bit as a couple. All parents need to do that from time to time!
glad you had a lovely time. its good to get away an have a break for a while.
I love, love, LOVE seafood! My favorite thing to get at Joe's is friend clam strips... mmmmmm... you've got me drooling over here!
