Looking at the Sky on Friday

I was so glad that I had just mowed the lawn over the weekend because we had torrential downpours Sunday night and into Monday.  Monday night the hummingbirds were in full attack mode on one another trying to get the last little bit of "nectar" (sugar water) from my feeder! I had so much fun photographing them. As best I could count at one time as I swatted mosquitoes and tried to shoot those micro birds there were 10. At one time their little flapping wings sounded like an army buzzing around me. It was so amazing watching their aerobatics and their combat skills as well! I enjoyed it and got a couple of good shots out of the 80 or so that I took. If you scroll to this week's Wordless Wednesday you can see my favorite. As I shot this one, and the sky can be seen in the background I decided that I would take a break from my sunset pictures this week and post this one. The dreary sky in the background wasn't nearly as fun to capture as the fluttering hummingbirds on this night.

I am using a new Link List, McLinky this week. I have paid for a service through Mr Linky and it seems as of late that it is not working properly on Fridays so I am going to give this one a try, even a plus that it is free. I will most likely not renew my subscription to Mr Linky when it is out. Please feel free to visit this site and use it on your post as well if you're so inclined.

Hummingbirds do not take note of the sky, sunny or cloudy. They furiously flap their wings in the pursuit of delicious nectar...

Happy that a linky is here again!

Hummingbirds fight like the dickens don't they. I love watching them. We feed them too.

I signed your McLinky because I wanted to see how it worked. I like it. I'm thinking about doing the same thing for my Awww...Mondays. I'd play your Looking at the Sky on Friday, but I leave for the boat on Friday's. Wouldn't be fair not to participate properly.

Have a terrific Friday and weekend. Big hug and lotsa lovies. :)

Hey Trish, was that scary, all those little birds around you? I think I wouldn't be out and around them. :-)
Thanks for doing this, thank you for having Mr. Linky. I didn't realize you were paying for it.

That must have been an awesome sight to see the hummingbirds in full action.
We don't have them here, so I'm only guessing.
I love them :D
The sky looks dreary.
But I wish we had some more rain here.
It did rain for two weeks straight when we didn't need it. Now we would need it and nothing in sight, sigh.

Hummingbirds are so dang hard to catch. Just when you think they've been still a long time and you can get a photo, they fly off. Trying to videotape them is even worse!

WOW!!! I'm SO jealous! We have a couple of hummers but I've never been able to catch a photo like that - or the one from Wednesday! That is just fantastic, and you did a great job of capturing it...
(I hadn't seen this MckLinky before so I wasn't sure about the title. Looks good, though...)

Great picture!
Our skies have been off & on dreary all week.
I wondered when someone would give Mr. Linky a run for his money - and if this service is FREE, then hot damn, I gotta check it out!
Thanks for the heads up!
Have a great weekend, my friend.
Love ya,
Mo

That is a lot of hummingbirds at one time. We had one in the backyard a few weeks ago, that landed on my back. I ran to the store and bought a hummingbird feeder and, of course, we haven't seen a single hummingbird since.
