Transformers 2 : Revenge of the Fallen = A++

Last night was a movie night out for us.  On the big screen was Transformers 2, Revenge of the Fallen.  Let me just say this:  WOW!  This was a great movie.  We took my 3 year old son and 6 year old daughter to see it.  The movie is rated PG13.  It had a little bit stronger language than I prefer for my kiddos to hear.  Two new characters, "The Twins"  Skids & Mudflap added a very light-hearted comedic relief in the movie, although they were the source of most of the dirty talk.

Since the movie opened on a Wednesday night I thought we could take the kiddos and it would't be as crowded as a Friday night.  Unfortunately that was not the case.  We got to the theater fifteen minutes until showtime and it was a packed house.  We ended up sitting on the third row which the kids LOVED...my neck, no not so much!

The plot had a great mixture of comedy and drama as well as action, loads and loads of action.  A lot of the old characteristics of what I remember of the cartoon were brought into this one, such as more than one transformer combining to make a super transformer.  There are some sad parts in this one, like when Sam goes off to college and his mom (and eventually Dad) get very emotional.  Okay, so that wasn't sad but there were seriously some emotional scenes for me but I won't spoil the plot for you here.  There were many more funny parts in this one than it's predecessor.  Sam's Mom eats some "organic" cookies while dropping Sam off at college which ends in her getting high.  This ends in quite a funny scene for the viewers but very uncomfortable for Sam and his father.

There is a whole slew of new characters in this film.  Among my favorites were the affore mentioned twins and Wheelie, a blue radio-controlled monster truck.  When you hear the voices of  these three characters keep in mind that they are all the same person.  His name is Tom Kenny.  You might recognize him if you have children from his work on a little program on Nickelodean about a square pants wearing sponge.  I kept thinking that I knew that voice from somewhere but couldn't put my finger on it.

Overall it was a great movie with an intriguing plot.  By the end of the movie, I was on pins and needles to find out what happened.  I would recommend this movie to anyone who enjoyed the first one.  If you haven't seen the first one, I would recommend doing so before you see this one, or some things might not make as much sense.  This movie was definitely an A+ for me.  Go see it, let me know what you think when you do!

thanks for the review--my son is dying to see it--I think we'll show him the first one before we go to this one. :)

My son has been bugging us to take him to this. I've heard the critics hated it, but I'm sure it'll be a fun ride for a 10yo boy.

I dont agree is a great movie though CGI is great except the plots which make hardly understanding whole through events. The transformers 1 is the best but suddenly dunno whats micheal bay in his mind putting too much minor dirty stuff in transformers 2. I do agree critizes review badly. Frankly I still cant get rid in my mind of 2 giant balls which belong to devastator is so disturbing I am sure all children know what it is.... I hope it didnt happen to the toy makers transformers purposely put 2 chain underneath
