A Mom's Joy for KY

There comes a time in every mother's life when you just have to do it. You have to roll up your sleeves and pull out the KY jelly. I'm sure to get some hits from this post with that word planted here, right?!

Today, Emily and I spent the biggest part of the day shopping. I got some great bargains. I bought most of my nieces and nephews their gifts today. Emily is officially 3 months old today and she was quite the trooper while I shopped. In fact, luckily she slept most of the time I was out. That suited us both quite well.

After I had picked up the other two kiddos from school, she began to be very contrary. This is not her personality at all. Normally the only time she is cranky is when she needs a diaper change or a bottle, so I knew something was wrong. I tried gas drops. I walked around with her. I had the other two kids come and try to play with her. Nothing worked. Then I realized that she had not had a bowel movement yet today.

I said a little prayer as I went to the medicine cabinet in hopes that there would be some suppositories left from when Tyler was a baby (2 years ago). I wondered if they would still be good if we did. I grabbed a chair and dug in the back of the cabinet and much to my relief there was a container with a handful of them! The expiration date was 2010 so all was well.

You know you're a mom when you're excited to find KY and suppositories! Suffice it to say that they did the trick, she had a bottle and slept peacefully for the next two hours while I wrapped a few gifts.

So, how was your day?! Did you use some KY? On second thought, maybe you should keep that to yourself if ya did. I'm sure I don't want to know...
