Manic Monday - Boil

MM Headquarters ~ Previous MMs

Just looking at this picture makes my blood boil! I can't believe that I did something so stupid. Yesterday being out in the heat with the celebration and festivities of Tyler's 3rd birthday party, my pregnant fingers began to swell. I took my wedding ring off and slid it into the pocket of my shorts. This afternoon I glanced down at my finger and wondered where I had taken off my precious token of 10 years and suddenly there was a lump in my throat as I remembered it's fate. My maternity shorts were tumbling in the dryer!!! I ran waddled quickly to the laundry room and pulled out the clothes. In the bottom of the dryer was a broken wedding band which had come loose from the actual engagement ring. There were no diamonds to be found. I carried the clothes into the house and began to sift through them. Out falls the diamond portion of the ring, thankfully still in tact. Tomorrow I will visit the jeweler and see if he can work his magic putting the wedding band back together and adding it back to it's place with my diamonds. Until then, my swollen fingers won't miss them too much, but my heart might!

UPDATE:
I went by the jeweler today. He said he'd have it ready next week. He is going to put new tips on the diamond and the others in the band looked okay. He said the wedding band can be repaired and he is going to add some gold to it. So, all is good at least until I get the bill. *grin*

Oh no! You must be heartbroken! Hopefully the jeweler can fix it for you. Thank goodness you found the diamond intact and on a positive note - at least it's clean now!

Brien said that the diamond was as clean as it's been probably since I put it on! *LOL* It does look shiny. I'm sure the jeweler can make it right.

That is terrible. but I am so glad you remembered where they were and rescued the ring.

Awwwww sweetie...it's not so bad! You didn't lose any diamonds and the jeweler will be able to fix it. And you know that it's a symbol...an important one, but just a symbol.

Oh no. You must have felt sick when you realized where it was! What an awful thing to happen.
I'm at least glad to hear that all the diamonds were found. Think how much worse you would have felt if those were still missing.
Here's hoping the jeweler can do something to make it all better again.

As long as you've got the bits, it's repairable.

At least you found it! Poor, swollen pregnant you! You're in the home stretch now!!

I lost the diamond from my engagement ring several times. Once I found it in the washer, once the laundry basket, once the microwave and once the lovely gold and brown shag carpet. Oh, those fabulous 70's!!

I was always frantic until I found it. I had the diamond reset between 2 saphires after my divorce 14 years ago and that way I still get to wear it! It's still pretty after 35 years!

ugghhh. so, sorry that happened. You probably already thought of this, but you might want to have the jeweler check those diamonds to make sure they aren't loose...

I have thrown my ring away at a gas station once on the way back from Florida while drying my hands. Luckily when we got back there, about 30 minutes later it was still there under some paper towels.

That would make me boil! Glad that you found it and hopefully it can be easily fixed. It looks like it can.

Oh Tish, thats terrible! I am happy you found all the pieces and especially your diamonds! I am quite sure the jeweler will be able to fix it. When my oldest sister was pregnant with my nephew who is now 34, her fingers suddenly swelled on her like yours did at the end of her pregnancy and she had to go to the hospital and have her rings removed. They actually sawed through the gold to get them off. Ugh!

Hugs to you honey, only 17 more days!!! Oh Happy Day! :-)

Hugs,
Kimmie

OMG that is so sad. I'm glad you found all the parts to the ring though. Whew.

Fixing is the easy part - good thing you found the missing parts!

I heard that putting Windex on a swollen finger will help pry off any ring. No, this isn't a "Big, Fat, Greek Wedding" joke. I heard there is something in Windex that helps the finger "un-swell." Just a tip if you need to get any rings off of swollen fingers.

Oh wow, Tisha, that's a very sad story... I hope the jeweler will fix your rings so that they are good as new! :)

Oh what a shame, it's so annoying when things like that happen. I do hope you can get it fixed.

Jewelers can do wonders so I pray they can get your ring all back together, I have done things like that myself and thus am missing a diamond from my own wedding band. Hugs darling.

Ah ... what a sad turn of events with your rings, but at least there's hope for 'restoration' ... and hopefully you can let this go and focus on other things.

We've all been there and done such silly things before and life does go on ... hearts heal ... and things get better. Seems like the party was a success ;--)
Hugs and blessings,

OMG-I can't even imagine the feeling to look down and not see your ring and then to think it may have gone through the wash. Thank goodness you found it.

Yikes! That's awful! Glad you found all the pieces, that was pretty lucky!

Awww Momma. Hope it doesn't cost much to fix. How about wearing it on a leather cord as a necklace for awhile? I had a ring which broke my heart too. My parents gave me a diamond ring when I turned 16. My Grandfather died later and for some reason that ring always made me think of him. Now it is lost somewhere. I think it is still here somewhere I have just not looked in the right place yet. Moving a lot really is crazy. I never know where anything is.
