My Little Guy

Yesterday afternoon when we got home after a long HOT, humid Arkansas summer we decided we'd go for a swim. Shelby, Tyler, and I hopped in the pool. They played for a while as I vacuumed the bottom of the pool. We swam for about an hour and a half and the kids were ready to get out. I put some chemicals in the pool and cleaned out the filter as the kids played nearby in on their swing set the back yard.

Tyler informed me as I was finishing up that he was ready to go inside because mosquitoes were biting him. We came inside and they got in the bath tub while I changed out of my swim suit. Tyler was saying that his mosquito bite was hurting and Shelby informed him that it was red.

I looked down at his leg to discover that this poor child did not have a mosquito bite, but had been stung by a red wasp! He NEVER did cry. I could not believe this. He is such a tough, brave little boy. I am 30 years old and usually when I get stung by one of those things I go crazy and there are tears shed. They hurt so bad! For this 2.5 year old little guy to not even whimper made me so proud of him. I quickly washed him up because I figured the hot water didn't make it feel any better. He got out and it swelled a bit, but thankfully he was okay and had no side effects from it.

What a brave little one!

Holy cow. I don't even know what a red wasp IS, but it sounds angry and mean. What a brave boy indeed! How is he feeling today?

Actually, hot water (or direct heat) can help with insect stings.
Heating the venom neutralizes it.

You might have inadvertently helped the brave little dude!

wow Mom, Did you pull the stinger out or do they not leave them in the victim. I am so glad he is not allergic to them. I never heard of a red wasp... just a wasp... Bravery award for sure.
