Don't DO DRUGS

I ran across this story today online and thought it was worth repeating here. I remember something similar when I was in high school. They'd given out red ribbons that said something about I don't use drugs and kids were marking out the "don't" and wearing them. The teachers didn't notice because everyone had on red ribbons and they paid no attention. I guarantee these kids are all jumping on board because THEY are the ones that noticed this subliminal message!!

Try to spot the subliminal message on the bracelets that were handed out to children in Iowa as part of an anti-drug program: "I've Got BETTER Things to DO Than DRUGS."

Congratulations to those who keyed in on "BETTER...DO...DRUGS."

The Hawk Eye reports that the silicone bracelets were manufactured by Positive Promotions in New York and distributed to students in Henry County, Iowa. (Positive Promotions tried to delete the image from its website, but you can still see the bracelet here.)

Shawn Twyman, the father of two high school students, says the bracelets are very popular. "The kids are jumping on it. They think it's just cute," he tells the paper, adding that the attention being paid toward those three words "kind of defeats the purpose."

The company tells the Associated Press that it received two complaints, and plan to replace the bracelet with one that features the same message in all capital letters. source

Maybe I am not observative enough,I dont think I would have noticed that it had a subliminal message per se,but I would probably be trying to figure out why they put those specific words all in caps-guess I am slow on the uptake....tee hee hee.

I didn't notice it at all. It's Red-Ribbon Week at our schools here this week. Do we really think that handing out red ribbons and bracelets is going to prevent a kid from doing drugs if he/she really wants to? Just wondering...
