Day Two in Baltimore!

On our second day Becca treated us to McDonald's for breakfast before venturing out into the big city! Our destination for the day was The National Aquarium in Baltimore. We had a wonderful time. We got to watch the dolphin show and that was amazing! I've never got to see a dolphins how before, so it was pretty cool. We also got to see an amazing plethora of underwater creatures. There was also a rain forest (which was monstrous on my hair!!!) where we saw lots of beautiful, colorful birds and this beautiful waterfall! I got lots of great photos and Shelby got some as well. If you're interested in seeing the photos, check out the slide show at the end of this post. I can only fit so many photos into each post. Shelby did get a bit cranky half way through the Aquarium. There were several school field trips there while we were there. The kids were for the most part, absolutely horrible. They were mean, and loud, and pushed Shelby away from several exhibits. This only fueled her crankiness. But, we got out ahead of the groups after the dolphin show and from then on it was smooth sailing. My favorite exhibits were the sharks, sand dollars, the colorful fish (like Nemo)! From the Aquarium, we walked over to the best eating joint in town, The Cheesecake Factory! We were lucky enough to get a table out on the patio were Shelby was amazed by the ever so delightful pigeons. She chased a few, and took pictures of a few. We had some yummy Crispy Crab Wantons, their version of Crab Rangoon. They contain fresh crab meat blended with cream cheese, green onion, water chestnuts and sweet chili sauce fried crisp in wonton wrappers. They were very yummy. Shelby had mini burgers and fries for her lunch and I chose CHICKEN MARSALA AND MUSHROOMS, a chicken breast gently sauteed with fresh mushrooms in a rich marsala wine sauce. served over bow tie pasta. It was heaven! Becca had yummy fish tacos. Being as we were all so stuffed from our yummy lunch, we got our world famous cheesecake to go. I had a tuxedo cheesecake, Shelby had a white chocolate macadamia nut, caramel swirl, while Becca chose a white chocolate peanut butter truffle cheesecake. We left there and ventured a bit in the mall because there were a few shops inside the mall where Becca suggested we might get some great souvenirs for our family, friends, and Shelby's teachers back home. She was right! We'd teased Shelby about her bringing back crabs to her teachers. She was not going to be satisfied with anything other than that. We finally convinced her that the FAA would not allow us to carry crabs on the flight back to Little Rock, so we'd have to settle for something that does not pinch and walk sideways! We found some chocolate shaped crabs! Who wouldn't love chocolate shaped ANYTHING?! We also found some crabs that you wind up and they walk side ways. Surely this would be allowed on the flight. So, we were on our way back to the car with cheesecake and souvenirs in hand. On our way back home we did travel down a street that I found to be very interesting...We ventured down South Gay Street on the way back to Becca's house. We lazed around a bit before sampling each and every cheese cake. We had to help Shelby eat hers because, bless her heart she could not finish it on her own and we couldn't let it go to waste! We had dinner at Becca's friend's house. They were gracious enough to cook for the three of us and I must say that I am so glad they did. Since he was a professional chef, I'll just say that the meal was extraordinary and I did have seconds! Shelby had fallen asleep on the way over so when we got there she laid on the couch and fell back to sleep. She ended up not eating dinner. Then when she woke up she was claiming that she wanted some of the Crabby Patties on the microwave. I mentioned this to our hostess and she said that she had no crabby patties. Shelby pointed to the bag in which she was calling the patties. They were dog treats!! Shelby also picked up some pirate tattoos while she was at the souvenir shop and made me put on her ankle, just like Becca's!

Come by tomorrow for Day Three...our trip to DC!

I love that aquarium-but ever since we went when I was younger, no other one stands up to it!
