Day Three - Trip to DC

On Friday we woke up and the weather decided that it did not want to cooperate with us. We woke up and it had stormed quite a bit the night before. It was not promising to be all that great for our trip to the National Zoo in DC. Becca drove us there and by the time we got to the zoo and parked the rain began to fall. Lucky for us, Bec had a couple of umbrellas in her trunk and she was more than willing to share. We entered right by the information booth and I got a stroller for Shelby. This was a good investment considering it rained off and on the entire time. She didn't have a chance to get cranky while we were there because she was getting pushed around the entire day!The zoo in DC is one of the very few places in the US to have a display of Pandas. We didn't get a very good view of them because they were hiding when we got around to their display. It was raining pretty good when we got there as well, so we hurried by. It wasn't that long ago we saw giant Pandas when we went to the Memphis zoo. I think the fact that we'd been to the aquarium the day before made some things at the zoo less enthusiastic! Don't get me wrong, it was neat. We had a good time, but it seemed like a LOT of walking, I wasn't particularly fond of the lay out and there were lots of exhibits that were under construction while we were there. I did get some great posed shots of Shelby with these brass type statues. Every time we passed one she wanted to pose with it. *LOL* I'm saving them for future Wordless Wednesdays. For now, I leave you with a slide show of a few of the animals we saw at the DC Zoo. Next up is our trip back to the mall for Shelby (and mine) first visit to Build A Bear!
