Redneck

It's getting close...yup, hubs is going NUTS again. He's got deer fever. My husband is an avid hunter. He loves to deer hunt. He does a bit of turkey, coon, squirrel, and quail hunting as well. But, his passion is deer hunting. I blog, he hunts! So, the season kicks off in October and he's got bows, arrows, guns, bullets, camouflage for this and hunter orange for that. He is very particular about what he buys. He has all the latest gadgets: GPS, binoculars that tell you how far away something is, digital infrared cameras with motion sensors, I'm telling you the list goes on and on. This afternoon he had his deer camp buddies over and they were sighting in their bows. I laughed so hard at them ya'll. I went outside and they were all up on the roof of the house. They wanted to be pointing down at an angle like they do when they're in a tree, so they climbed up on the roof to do so! I didn't get a picture, for you though. I laughed so hard when I realized that it couldn't get much more redneck than that!!!

I hate hunting!!! I support it because I understand about the thinning of the herds, etc., I just hate that it has to happen. I know my first husband loved to deer hunt - he just knew better than to ask me to go with him!
Current hubman killed a rabbit when he was a young boy and he still can't get the sounds out of his head...
But I love to go shooting - you know, tin cans and all of that.
And I'm sorry you didn't get a photo of them on the roof!!!

I grew up in a family of hunters. All my uncles hunted with passion. I love venison.

i don't know, although i think it is good you use the meat and don't just trophy hunt... i think all the gadget takes away from the idea of hunting. basically all you have to do is sit there and wait, and you can kill the animal from an extreme distance without the real idea of what hunting was once. or maybe i am wrong, but that is how it seems.

Whatever happened to just going out with a simple bow and arrow or a gun without all the fancy-dancy sights and bullets and what-not? Because I'm not a man I just don't understand all the gadgetry that goes into hunting and fishing.

But men will be men, won't they??
