I can't believe this!!!

Sarge, I think I've found a nominee for your yellow bellied sap sucker award! Take a look at this story:

Someone vandalized the Vietnam Veterans Memorial earlier this month. The U.S. Park Service says investigators concluded that the oily substance -- first seen at 5 p.m. on Sept. 7 -- was intentionally splashed on the memorial.

"It's a terrible crime, and we want to solve it," Sgt. Robert Lachance, a Park Police spokesman, tells The Washington Post . The group that built the wall is offering a $5,000 reward, the paper says. WRC-TV reports that police don't have any leads in the case.

"Because it is not yet known what was spread on The Wall and paving stones, the National Park Service's (NPS) Preservation and Maintenance Staff is working with the most gentle of techniques to ensure the substance's removal, but also to ensure that the substance is not pushed into the granite stonework or grouting," the agency says in a press release.

I can not believe that we live in a world where people are so full of hate and disrespect that they would stoop to such lows as defacing a veteran monument. It makes me sick at my stomach, people. I sure hope they find the cowards who did this and they are punished for their unjust crimes!!!

Now it's stuff like this that really makes me very, very angry. This and people who go in and vandalize cemeteries. I hope they catch the rats that did it but I would be willing to bet the cowards are long gone.

I just wonder if it has anything to do with the "Die-In" of last weekend. I support people's right to protest anything. If we give that right away, we become nothing more than a tyranny. BUT the calibre of some of these people was not that of true protestors. They were there strictly to stir up antimosity and hatred. Anyone who would deface a war memorial or cemetery needs a LONG time behind bars and perhaps being required to study the history of this country while incarcerated! Makes me ill to think about it...
