Mistaken Identity

I was over at reading Neila's post about her husband's case of mistaken identity and it reminded me of a similar experience I had yesterday.

My blow dryer had quit working, so I stopped in at Sally's beauty supplies. I was shopping standing there in the center aisle looking. The sales lady was in the back of the store. Two teenagers came in while I was shopping and I looked up at them and I heard the lady from the back say hello. I assume that they (mainly the male) thought that I said hello. He looked back at me and said hi.

We both went on about our shopping business, I looking for my blow dryer and he and his female friend looking at the hair dye. They found it! They proclaimed that it was the PERFECT shade of BLUE! But, then they realized that the wrong color was in the blue slot. This wasn't blue at all. How could this be? The blue hair dye was completely sold out. How in the hell could they have a sell out on BLUE hair dye. Don't the little old ladies use some special formula to make theirs blue, but I digress.

The teenage boy turns to me and asks me if I have any other shades of blue. I stood there trying to think of something very witty to say, but I was at a loss for words. I smile and told him that I didn't work there, but if I did I didn't figure we'd have anymore blue hair dye if it wasn't on the shelf. His female friend thought it was VERY funny that he thought that I worked there and I didn't. He began to search for the mysterious voice from the back of the store and she appeared and they both laughed hysterically as they asked her if there was anymore shades of blue in the store.

There wasn't. They left, I found a blowdryer and so did I.

I am so glad I don't feel the need for blue hair. Weird. I am suprised he just didn't pick up some purple.

Is it because your blow dryer wasn't working, that your hair turned into shop lady style?

I cannot imagine if I have blue hair, both Prince and Princess will call me Monster. lol

I was once mistaken a saleperson too because I was wearing a shirt that was so similiar to their uniform. lol

Blue hair. I am getting of the age where I could have blue hair, but I refuse. I've told everyone I know that if I ever have blue hair tell me. I don't think some of these old ladies know they have blue hair. Yikes. Glad you got your blowdryer and got a laugh too. Have a great weekend. :)

too funny... I read Neila's story and just had to come over and hear yours :) Too funny. Love the pic of Rooney from the Doodlebops (you know you have kids when you start to contemplate whether he is HOT without the makeup on :))

Have a great weekend.

Hee hee...the day when we were young enough to actually go into a store and ask for blue hair dye (I was in college in late 80s, so I totally had punk friends who thought I should have colored hair!)
Great story!!!

I have a friend who dyed her hair blue and she's 30! I guess it's one of those things that seems cool when you are a teenager, but then looking back as a 'grown up' you realize just how ridiculous it really is... like tapered jeans - what was I thinking! ;)

Blue hair dye, how interesting. I once saw a pretty girl with blue highlights on her hair but I guess it wasn't permanent.

true story...I've been wanting Red lights in my hair for YEARS - not red like you were born with it. Red like you picked up a crayon and forgot to stop.
I went all out and even bought the stuff to do it last year. My Punk is a very timid boy. I partly wanted to change for him. To show him that even mommy knows it's okay to be your own person. (10 and already not fitting in at school and middle school this year) But then he'd be the guy who's mom has punk hair and drives an SUV... probably not better. HA!
And I'm starting to find little grey hairs and dammit I've earned those so... I've put off the red again.
