Aww man
I heard a knock on the door this afternoon. I answered it. Our neighbor stood there shaken and teary eyed. She asked if I'd let our jack russell terrior, Bingo out of the back yard. I told her no. She pointed to her yard and said that her husband saw him in the road and he got him off the road and put him in their yard. He had somehow got the back gate open and got out on the highway. Someone hit and killed him. :(
I was sad, for my kids. They were not home. My children are ages four, and two. I think that we will tell them that he got loose and ran away. I don't want to explain that he got in the road and someone ran over him. I know that we'll have to explain death to them eventually, but I guess as long as I can put it off, I might as well!

Oh -- I'm so sorry.
Oh my, I'm so sorry to hear that Tisha. I feel sorry for your loss.
I understand how hard it is to tell young kids about death. When my dog, Miko died of old age, I didn't tell my son. When he noticed Miko was missing, I told him he was in Heaven. He said, he wanted us to go to Heaven to get Miko back. He felt a little sad when I told him he won't be back anymore. I don't think Yohan understands the meaning of death and I'm sure he will when the right moment comes.
Hope everything will work out for the best. Take care!
Oh no! I'm so sorry :(
Oh No! thats a horrible thing to have happened.
I hope it goes well whatever you end up telling them.
Oh no!!!
Poor Bingo!
I think that at 4 & 2, the running away story is probably best...
My heart goes out to you for your loss, sweetie!

That's so sad.
I'm really sorry for you, and this is coming from a mom and a dog lover.
Thank goodness for your compassionate neighbors! The sad thing is our dogs probably get taken better care of than a lot of kids. Sad...
