Creative Photography - Swimming Shelby?

Creative Photography
I took this picture last October when Shelby and I went to the Aquarium in Baltimore on our visit to my best friend, Becca's house. The thing I love about this photo is that you can see Shelby's reflection the left hand corner of the shot and it looks like she's in the tank with the underwater creatures!

The Pumpkin Patch

Friday morning, there was a chill in the air! Shelby had a class trip to the Pumpkin Patch and before the sun peeked out of the clouds it was quite cool outside. We arrived at the pumpkin patch and the kids were instructed that there was a maze of straw that they could crawl under. Shelby had a great time doing this, but she was quick to inform me that it was "smelly" inside the straw. There was also a great pyramid of straw for the children to climb atop! It never ceases to amaze me how children can have so much fun doing the same thing over and over again. They would climb all of the way to the top of this pyramid and jump to the ground. With some of them, Shelby included there would be a few jumps involved before she could jump from very high. In fact, she never did make it all of the way to the top to jump down, but she did have fun jumping and I have never had such a hard time snapping a "mid-air" shot! From the great pyramid of straw, we were taken around the farm on a hay ride. It was a fun time for the kids to sing silly songs and check out the green slime waters in the swamp. We looked everywhere for Shrek for we knew he lived in the swamp, but he was nowhere to be found. Perhaps he and Fiona were on vacation. Shelby also got to do something she's never done before and she admits that this was the "funnest" part of her field trip. She got to pick cotton. Fortunately she was not getting paid by the hour because this proved to be quite a time consuming task for her. But, it provided several great photo opportunities for me (but then again, when is there NOT an opportunity to shoot photos, right?!). This image was snapped when she began the quest to fill up her brown paper sack with cotton. I loved the blue sky with cotton like clouds in the back ground. After the cotton picking adventure it was time to choose a pumpkin. Shelby wanted to skip this activity and continue to pick cotton. With much persuasion, I was able to get her out of the cotton patch and over to the pumpkins instead. She searched near and far to find "the one". I pointed out several big ones, small ones, and lots in between. Shelby, however is a child who stands out in a crowd. She decided she did not want a large pumpkin, a small pumpkin, or in fact a pumpkin at all! She chose a gourd instead. More specifically, she chose an apple gourd. It was green in color and more squared in shape. I've never seen one and I thought it was pretty good choice for her.So there you have it, my friends! My Friday was spent with my beautiful daughter and her Kindergarten class enjoying the crisp fall temperatures at the Pumpkin Patch and the drive was close enough that I didn't need a GPS to get there. Since the Fire Station trip was canceled, it was the first field trip that I've gotten to attend with my daughter and I must say it was great fun. I look forward to many more with her.

Before
After
Just playing around with some photo shop elements. This is one of my favorite pictures of Tyler. He had snuck outside after a long rain and was playing in the water. Before he got in trouble, I had to be a little sneaky with my camera!
