Hello Spring!

"Honey, you have to have rain in order to have the pretty days filled with flowers, green grass, and birds singing."
-My Grandma
This was my grandma's response when I would complain that I hated the rain. I still don't care much for rainy days, especially when I have three kids with three different destinations in the morning and I have to get them in and out. But, I always have to smile when I remember my grandmother's comforting and wise words. I miss her every day, but especially at spring time. I would always call her and she'd tell me when it was time to put out my hummingbird feeder. I need to get over to The Wren's Nest and get some of those fancy feeders ordered because Oscar the wiener dog chewed up the one from last year. We've had so much rain the past week that the yard is saturated and the kids are going stir crazy. I know, you don't have to leave me hate comments that at least we got rain and not snow. We're lucky...I guess. I'm just ready for the rainy part of spring to be over with! I grabbed my Canon Monday and grabbed a few shots while the sun was shining, sure signs of Spring. I am glad to see it!

Happy Birthday

This candle is in memory of my grandma. Today is her birthday. I miss my grandmother terribly. She died from complications due to lung cancer. She smoked right up until she was hospitalized for the final time and was unable to get up and walk outside. She was the foundation that kept our family together. After my grandmother died, my mother and her sisters had a fall out and most of them don't even speak anymore. My grandmother loved each and every one of her children and grandchildren no matter what they did. She was a beautiful woman. I remember one time my cousins & siblings were dancing and fooling around and grandma came into the room. We were jamming out to some pop music and she started dancing with us. We laughed hysterically at her b/c she was trying so hard to do the moves like they were doing on MTV. Grandma was just amazing like that. She made us smile no matter what the situation. I only remember getting a spanking from my grandma one time. We were climbing the tree in the yard that she'd told us we could NOT climb. She caught us and as we hit the ground from that tree, she spanked us. We got the spanking for disobeying her NOT for climbing the tree. I love you Grandma and I hope that I make you proud. I wish you could've met my babies. I know they would've loved you as much as I do. I miss you every day!! I hope if there's cake in heaven you're having a big slice today! I know you'll wait 'till every one else finishes though because you always did here on earth.

Ugh

Today is yet another rainy day. It reminds me of my grandma when I start to complain about hating rainy days. She used to always say that it takes these yucky, rainy days to make the beautiful flowers grow and the wonderful trees that shade us in the summer. So, I always look at the rain and as I begin to grumble, I think of Grandma and her words of wisdom. : )
