Sleep Comes Easy For A 5 Year Old!

Tyler has fallen asleep in some awkward positions in all of his 5 years. I guess every child has fallen asleep at the table at some point. Tyler fell asleep a few months back when he was eating. Although we chose to have dinner in the living room that night because we'd drove through a fast food joint on the way home late one evening, he fell asleep before he'd taken the first bite of fries on this night.

He's fallen asleep while in the car, too many times to count. I have never seen a kid sleep so sound in such odd places and positions!

But, last night definitely takes the cake on sleep positions! He was in trouble and forced by his dad to sit on the couch. He was of course angry that he was made to sit down but also so tired he could hardly stand it. Brien said that one minute he was thrashing around and crying to get up and the next minute he was quiet. He had fallen asleep just like this:

Now, I have to mention that he stayed like this for a good 20-30 minutes before he finally bent his legs and sat on the floor. Never fully waking, he rubbed his eyes a bit and looked around then just laid on the floor and was again fast asleep!

The last two positions would have done any adult in. I so remember my son doing the very same thing. Amazing.

Have a terrific day. Big hug. :)

I agree Sandee! Crazy how resilient they are, huh?

It's lucky kids are so flexible isn't it? We would be plagued by cramp within the first 5 minutes! LOL

Kids are like Gumby dolls. They can twist and turn and contort, and never EVER do they get sore necks from sleeping in weird positions!

Ow! My back hurts just looking at that last position but alas, I am far from 5 years old and the flexibility that youth has. Still, I don't remember ever being told I slept like that when I was little - that takes some very serious sleeping skills!
