Crash and Burn

Photobucket
There are so many good things about having a little boy.  My 4 (almost 5) year old son gives the greatest hugs.  He tells me he loves me (a lot!) and he can be so sweet, it makes your teeth hurt.  But, for all of those times he is good, there are just as many (if not more!!) times that he makes me want to pull out my hair! On Sunday, we had one of those instances.  We were having pot luck at church Sunday night, so I was busily preparing a cheesy broccoli and rice casserole in the kitchen while Brien napped and the kids were secretly plotting against me playing, or so I thought!

As I was putting the casserole in the oven, I heard a loud crashing sound.  The most alarming thing about the loud crashing sound was that it was NOT followed by scrambling feet.  So, I was worried that someone might have been trapped underneath some sort of debris.  I jumped up and ran in the direction of the crash.  I was met at my bedroom door by my 4 year old (previously mentioned) son who had a horrified look on his face.

"What happened?!!"  I said

"Nothing!"  He mustered as he was pushing me out of my bedroom.

"What did you break?!"  I said as I began to frantically search the walls for pictures, televisions, etc.  Everything looked like it was in tact.  Suddenly, as I walked into my bathroom, the sketchy details began to unravel on what happened.

I have a mirrored vanity which has three different mirrors with cabinets behind them.  Apparently, Tyler had crawled up on the cabinet/sink and was playing around and somehow knocked the door/mirror down which first hit the cabinet and then the tile floor.

Needless to say we have a cabinet with no door/mirror now and I've picked a couple of slivers of glass from my feet.  Thankfully Tyler was unhurt and even more so, thankfully Emily or Shelby wasn't standing underneath the big crash!

Some day when the house is quiet, I'm going to miss all of those big hugs, big kisses, and big crashes!!

I can definitely relate to that. If I don't hear laughter, yelling or an "I'm okay" after a loud crash, I know something bad happened. Silence is definitely not a good thing!

Oh the joys I have to look forward to. Though I am a bit used to crashing noises coming from Hubby's garage, I doubt I will be prepared to deal with them in the house.

I love four-year-olds. They are sweet and precocious and funny. Four-year-old boys, though....well....they can be.....challenging. ;)
