Christmas Lights, Kids, and Trees, Oh My!

December is here...whether we want it to be or not.  It seems like it has crept in on us here at the house of CrAzY Working Mom.  I haven't done the first bit of Christmas shopping.  We did manage to get our Christmas tree put up last weekend.  The three kids and I, with the watchful eye of my mother-in-law put up the tree, hung outside lights, and decorated the house while Brien was gone deer hunting.  We had a grand time and the kids were all very helpful.  Emily had a grand time pulling out every single ball out of each and every container and spreading it all over the floor.

Tyler and Emily were both very helpful doing the never-ending limb fluffing that comes with the artificial tree. The great thing about my tree is that it is "pre-lit" so there is no fighting with lights and stringing them around the tree. They are already there and if one happens to burn out, the rest will still twinkle! I love it.

Since Brien was out of town, I was left with the daunting task of adorning the top of the tree with the star. This task is usually left to him because I have NO patience and it takes quite a bit of it to get the darned thing to stay there. I worked quite a bit to get it to stay just right, but in the end I was happy with the result.

The finishing touches were added in the end, candy canes with some white and red poinsettias. I'll admit it's been tough keeping "little hands" off the candy cane adorned tree, but we're all happy with the way it turned out. Now the next task is to fill the underneath with gifts! Any volunteers???

Hi honey. The tree is lovely. You all did a fantastic job putting it together. I had to chuckle about the candy canes. They never lasted on our tree either. They are so pretty though.

Hubby and I finished our Christmas shopping today. We didn't do much, but it's done. It was such a relief. Lots of great sales going on right now and the stores weren't very busy.

Thank you for your visit. It was great seeing you again too. Have a terrific day. Big hug and lotsa lovies. :)

The tree looks great. This is my first year with a pre-lit and I absolutely love it. I've never had such a nice artificial tree before. No Christmas shopping for me this year, since we're down to one paycheck we're only buying for the kids in the family, and that's mostly done already. What a relief not to have to trek through the stores at almost 8 months preggers!!

I have to get candy canes for our tree yet, having a hard time finding them in blue and white this year.
