Conversations with Shelby

Today as I drove Shelby home from school we talked about her "sight words". These are words that her teacher expects her to know. In other words, she should be able to see them on a flash card and recite them without having to s-o-u-n-d them out.
Examples: a, I, the, and, was, you, him,

She was going over some sight words that she'd missed on her last test. One particular word was the number two. This type of word is difficult for her. She began to sound the word out.

Tuh-Wuh-Ah...TuWuAh...TWAT!!!

I did the best I could to contain my laughter. I thought I might have to invest in some self defense products when I saw the expression on her face. She thought I was making fun of her. It was a hard sell to convince her otherwise without explaining to her exactly what I was laughing at.

No wonder reading and spelling is so hard!

That's a riot! My 15 year old (at the time!) daughter came home and told us that they'd gotten to use the "stimulators" in Driver's Ed! We quickly explained that she mean "simulators!"
~~~Blessings~~~
my kid is doing the exact same thing as Shelby. What word was she trying to pronounce? did you ever find out or was she refusing to tell you.
Bwahahahahaha. I'm sorry I would have been pulling over on the side of the road so I could laugh my behind off. Bwahahahahaha. Just slipped right out didn't it? Too, too funny.
Have a great week ahead sweetie. Big hug. :)
Too adorable!! Belle does really well in reading, but she does sound most of the words that she is supposed to read on sight.
