It's 2:00 Do You Know Where Your Men Are?

Wow, what a night -or shall I say morning- we had! I had just finished up Emily's 2 AM feeding. She was still awake, though just barely, in her bassinet. I was dozing back off when I hear a faint, "Mommy" over the monitor from Tyler's bedroom. I opened my eyes thinking that I was imagining the sound. Once again, I hear the cry again only this time much louder. I slowly rise, kicking the covers to the side and draping my feet over the edge of the bed trying to gather my witts about me because let's face it at 2 AM it's hard to be at your best. I reached Tyler's room and he was sitting on the edge of his bed. I sat down beside him and he proclaimed that he wanted me to hold him. I reached over to pick him up and he was burning with fever.

I took him to the bathroom to potty, carried him into the kitchen and gave him some Motrin and we laid down in my bed. Brien woke up and felt of him and immediately asked if I thought we should try to cool him down. Remembering a few months back when my sister's son was rushed to the ER via ambulance due to seizures from high fever I quickly agreed with his analysis. I got a cold wash cloth and a cold drink for him bringing back the thermometer. I scanned his forehead and the result was 103°. He was not happy with this decision and was screaming that it was too cold! I decided to go to the ole standby...a Popsicle. He was excited with this decision as any 3 year old should be.

Needless to say, at 2am we were up with the little guy feeding him Popsicle and wiping him down with a cold wash cloth. He was at the doctor yesterday and was given a clean bill of health. There is a virus with high fever and headache lasting two to three days going around. The pediatrician said he could be a victim of this virus. Since this is day three of a night time fever, hopefully it's the end of it. Right now he's still in bed with his dad. I had to get up at 5 to feed Emily and I knew that if I laid back down I would never get back up in order to get everyone up and at 'em. My coffee has finished brewing, so I am going to go get a straw and drink it out of the pot so that I can stay awake for a while!

It's so worrying when little ones have a fever. I hope Emily doesn't catch the virus honey. :(
