Y - Ike!!!

It looks like Ike, the hurricane is already hitting Arkansas, but not with winds and rain. It's price gouging! At this gas station located in a town called Royal yesterday regular unleaded was $3.55. Today the price has skyrocketed to $4.30! The governor of the great State of Arkansas has declared a state of emergency. As I drove through town today to pick up my kiddos, there were long lines at most gas stations while others were like ghost towns. The difference...the ones that had no cars had no gas. People in a frenzy scurried to the gas pumps to fill up and caused a shortage. Now the stations will have to refill their tanks giving them a valid reason to raise the prices. We will still pay more for it, no matter what. I just don't understand the "monkey see monkey do" mentality of people! I had a little under a half a tank, so I passed by the stations. There was no way I was going to sit in line at a gas station. I was just glad that I didn't need it. I feel sorry for those that do and get stuck in line with the crazies that are just stockpiling it! This type of panic is what causes disastrous shortages for the sane people!  I hope those waiting in those long lines have an audio book to keep them company!

Wow - that is just scandalous. If only the prices went down in the samemanner when the oil price goes down.

I haven't attempted to buy gas yet, even though I need to, but I'm sure even way out here we'll be feeling the pinch.

Ouch!

Wow, that is crazy! Hubby tries to keep the tank topped off every few days. Funny, he didn't say anything about the gas prices going up to me. Good thing you had gas in your tank Tish. I wouldn't have wanted to sit in that long line either.

Be safe.
Hugs,
Kimmie

One of my mother-in-law's cousins called the house this evening and said that gas was supposed to go up another $1.75 a gallon up here in Springfield, MO. So my wife and her mom went out and filled up just in case.

Frankly, it all makes me sick. For the high prices that we are now paying is all on account of greed--not true free market economics.

Alas, it's enough to make one wonder if communism really is all that bad. I'm trying to make a joke, of course, but it is times like these that capitalism really sucks for the less fortunate.

They weren't listening to President Bush than were they, he said do not price gouge.
We saw a jump prior to the storm but all stations are at the same price here.
