Conversations with Shelby - "The Moon"

Brien was sitting on the porch swing out front with the kids.  They were watching the sun set.  Shelby explained to her father the meaning behind the sun setting.

Dad:  The sun is setting over there behind those clouds.  It's going to bed.

Shelby:  Dad, the sun is NOT going to bed.  God is taking the sun back.

Dad:  He is, why is he taking it back?

Shelby:  Because he is giving it to the dead people.

Well, dead people do need a bit of light in their lives. Very thoughtful of her.

Very interesting interpretation of where the sun goes, I must say!
In ancient Egypt, the sun went through the body of the goddess Nut (pronounced 'newt') during the night, only to be pooped out again at dawn!
Bringing light to the dead doesn't sound so far fetched after that!!!

It's hard to argue with a child's logic.
