What A Weekend!

Yesterday was a big day for my niece, Haven. She celebrated in true Sponge Bob style her 3rd birthday party! My mother in law did the honors of the amazing Sponge Bob Square Pants birthday cake. The kids had a great time and Haven got lots of fun gifts.

All of this fun made for a great Saturday. BUT, that was only half the weekend.

Then along came Sunday. The boys were going to have their day out while we girls had our plans "on ice", literally! Dad was going to take Tyler on his first hunting trip. They got all camouflaged out and as they were headed out the door, I ushered them back in for a photo op. I'm glad I did, they looked so cute in their get up.As it turns out, they didn't see any turkey, go figure! I'm pretty sure you have to be very quiet to even get turkey to come near you. Brien did try a few calls with no success. They did, however manage to get a few deer in their sights. It is turkey season, not deer season so there was nothing to bring home but lots of stories. They had a good time and were both worn out when all was said and done.

As some of you may remember from a previous post, Shelby and I had our mother/daughter day out today visiting Disney's High School Musical on ice tour. It was a wonderful show. Shelby got a new outfit for the show and got lots of compliments on her brand new red cowgirl boots. She was definitely stylin' and profilin' for her big day. We left with a commemorative program for a mere $20, a snow cone in a commemorative cup for $10, and a bag of cotton candy with a commemorative hat for $10. All of this after parking for $10 and tickets for $60 each. Yup, it was quite an expensive trip, but I must say that seeing my little girl's face light up as it did sure made it worth while. The performances were amazing and the skating was out of this world. The first act was based on the original High School Musical while act 2 was the second movie. I enjoyed the second act a bit better because it involved more pyrotechnics, special effects, and cool props including a car being driven on the ice by Ryan and Sharpay, teak furniture, and even a sprinkler on the green just like in the movie! Overall, I think that Shelby gave it two thumbs WAY up and was tickled to get her picture made with Gabriella and Troy, albeit cardboard cut outs!
