Drugs
I haven't talked about it much here because quite frankly, it's just too difficult. But, the methamphetamine ("meth") problem in our country is horrendous. Here in the state of Arkansas it is out of control. Our government and law enforcement are fighting with both barrels, but it's a very difficult task. The last time I was sick with a head cold, I walked into my local chain retailer hoping to get in and out quickly because I felt like death warmed over. I went to the shelf to pick up some Sudafed and there was none on the shelf, only a cardboard cut out with a photo telling me to go to the pharmacy counter to purchase. I wait in line there and when I get to the front of the line, still looking like death warmed over mind you she asked to see my driver's license. She had to scan it and had I purchased more than I was allowed by law within a certain time period, I would've been refused the sale. What a great idea! I have an aunt that has been overtaken by drugs. She is only four years older than myself. She's my mom's baby sister. She and I were so close when we were younger. She would take me to do fun things all of the time. She has four beautiful children, three of whom were taken away from her during a drug raid at her home several years ago that ultimately sent her to prison. She has custody of the youngest now whose father just recently got out of prison. But, the other three live with their father. Needless to say, she rarely sees the older three. They are beautiful children who have been through so much in their lives and I know that they will make something of themselves because they are able to overcome their mother's addiction. For years I wish that she would have been able to go to some sort of drug rehab, not only for her sake, but for her children's sake as well. I am really sorry...Even though my SIL was given his drugs by a physician, the addiction is still the same. As you know, it cost him his life. I strongly urge anyone reading this, if you need help, GET IT. Don't wait another minute.
Family members: Do an intervention. Don't go into denial and hope it will go away. It won't.
meth is everywhere, even little podunk has more than it's share. horrible...
