To Word Verify or Not?!

Do you use it? If so, why? Here at the home of Crazy Working Mom, there is no word verification to slow you down. I am glad to have you here and don't want to hinder you as you leave a comment! I HATE word verification. If I get spam in my comments, which happens rarely, I just hit the delete button!
(this word verification was on a blog I frequent...needless to say I didn't get it right.)

I HATE word verification too, it drives me nuts. Especially when it's something like a bunch of wvu's they all lend together

I've been thinking about turning mine off actually. I never really realized it was there for a long time, but I've been having so many issues with them lately, I'm ready to go figure out how to turn it off. In fact, I'll go right now ;)

I'm a spazz, I guess I thought it was an automatic thing. I don't even have it activated for me to turn off ;)

i hate it too and for me it's even worse because I am slightly dyslecsic, so I see things where they are not. I find it absolutely useless !

I think you have just inspired me to remove it from my blog to see what happens.

What Morgen and Empress Bee said. I turned mine off many, many months ago because Empress Bee asked me to. I haven't had any regrets either. Doing all the meme's I do it really slows you down. Oh, and another thing I've noticed doing meme's are the folks that you have to login to leave a message. What? Hello!!!

Call me crazy, but I like seeing what bizarre assembly of words the verification ends up with. But this is a good post, as I had no idea it annoyed so many people. I don't know how to delete a comment from a spammer, is my only problem. I'll have to find out and then take the verifation off.

I loathe it too and even dedicated a post to it in my DEAR BLOGGER series. I guess great minds think alike. Happy Weekend Kickoff!

If you are feeling particularly charitable, stop by my blog and sponsor me tomorrow for Blogathon 2007. The charity I'm blogging for is Kiva.org.

I don't have it either because I hate having to do it on other blogs! I'm in too much of a hurry with so many blogs to visit.

I'm not sure why so many people have it turned on. Maybe they have had bad spam comments....or maybe they have control issues. I dunno.

In the morning..and late at night when I am blogging...my eyes are not at their best..and I get REALLY annoyed at some of these verifications....

Word verification makes no sense to me. I think I had one spam in two years. Why people do this I have no freakin idea. To be honest unless they are my blog friends I won't comment if they have that stupid verification. You can't tell what the letters are half the damn time. I agree with you 100%

I took it off of mine, because I despise it on other sites. Sometimes they are so hard to read, and you keep getting it wrong, and just give up and cancel your comment! It really isn't that hard to delete spam comments, much easier than figuring out these verifications!

most times I hate it, but I can't remember if I have it on or not.

I despise word verification. I have received one spam comment in 281 posts. There have been times when I've given up on my comment after the third time I couldn't see the word properly.

I will say that I was a guest blogger on a fan site that got inundated with porn site spam - over 1200 spam comments in a single day! So if you've got that kind of problem, I can appreciate the word verification.

I took mine off quite some time ago after having to type in so many others on their blogs. I had actually forgotten that it was on mine. But I did leave the authorization on. All that means is that they email me with the comment and then I can approve or delete it. No verification on my blog ever again.

In fact....can I "borrow" this post? Please let me know.

word verification is a handful! I need to get my eyeglasses to correctly write it! Thanks for not removing it here.

Gosh! I didn't realize so many people felt so strongly about it! I turned mine on because I was getting some spam comments, but I love my blogger friends too much so I'm turning it off - right now!

I don't use it now & have never had spam (other than rom Claire!). Get rid . . . no more word verification please!
