Bad to Worse!!
It's a crying shame that an honest, hard working man has such horrible things happen to him. My husband is one of the nicest people that you would ever meet, but the poor guy has THE WORST luck of anyone I've ever known. A couple of weeks ago he had a brand new $1200 generator stolen from his shop located at our home. He discovered last weekend that in addition to the generator there were guns taken as well. This morning he arrived to his office in town and found that it had been broken into! The culprit(s) stole all of his scrap copper (he's a plumber by the way) and LOTS of tools from his trucks which were locked up in the shop. The police said that since Brien and his guys had been inside the shop that they could not do fingerprints. I am not an officer, but that just doesn't make sense to me. The door that they had broken into was open and they did not use that door. They used the office door to get into the shop. So, that particular door was in no way compromised. I think that our police force is just lazy...I don't think that they care who did it. They filed their report, that's what they had to do, and now they could care less. So, now hubby and his guys have to scrape what they can tool wise to be able to finish out the work week!! The big kicker is that he's only been in this shop about a month, and has NO insurance coverage what so ever!!! He is leasing. Yes, there is a call in to his insurance agent as we speak to get some kind of renters coverage on that building.

I'm sorry about what happened to your husband! Having recently had my home broken into, I understand that ugly feeling it gives you. Especially when you find out that the Sheriff's Department in your county had the guy in their custody only a week before your home was hit after they caught him in someone else's home. And he was out on PAROLE, but still they let him out on bail to steal some more until he finally got caught in another county, whose police force was smart enough to contact his parole officer and have his parole revoked.
But they still didn't get my laptop back.
Do I sound bitter? I guess, I am, just a little. But as you can see, I do relate...
Oh no that is horrible! I'm soory :( And that stinks the police won't be more helpful.
Go to the newspaper and make a stink. It may not help much in your case, but it will let the public know what their police force ISN'T doing. They don't like that.
I don't know if you are in a large or small town, but try to get some help from the media.
I'm sorry. I know what it feels like to have creeps steal from me! It's an awful violation.
Oh Nooooo! This is awful! And the police are just no help at all sometimes. :(
Oh how horrible! What bad luck... My sympathies go out to your husband.
Thats awful news, I hope they catch the culprit(s). x
Your poor husband! And let me just say that I think it stinks that your local police department isn't doing some sort of investigating! I agree with your assessment that they're just being lazy. I also agree with Comedy - alert the media!!!
I third 'call the media', this is awful.
Keep me updated on whats happening.
That's really a shame. And no insurance? That sucks.
That triple sucks.
The whole stealing scrap copper thing is getting out of hand.
A new house (nice house) going in just three doors down from us was broken into during construction -- they took the copper pipes right out of the basement of this new home!
I think that yes, you should go to the media. The lackadasical attitude of the police - just because they've seen a dozen or hundreds of these break-ins, doesn't mean that YOUR situation didn't warrant attention.
Does he belong to the NASE (National Association of the Self-Employed)? 800-232-NASE
They might be able to find him small business owner's insurance. I get my health care from the NASE and it is the best rate/best coverage I found.
I am so sorry! Such bad luck...Comedy Plus is right. Get the local media to give it some attention. Those police officers goofed big time.
