Ass Hat - Round Three

I don't work at Circuit City, THANK GOODNESS! I feel sorry for the 3,400 'Overpaid' Workers that DID! In case you missed this story, it's a humdinger! This fortune 200 company, and the third largest consumer electronics retailer in the United States with over $11 billion USD in sales (according to Wikipedia) fired 3,400 employees last Tuesday saying that they would be replaced by new hires who were be willing to work for less!!! WTF! How in the hell in America could this happen!? The company admitted that it had nothing AT ALL to do with performance, and was part of a larger effort to improve the famous "botom line".
In my book, this comment is the most Ass Hatted comment I've ever read:
"Retail is very competitive and store operations just have to contain their costs," said Jim Babb, a Circuit City spokesman. "We deeply regret the negative impact that was had on these folks. It was no fault of theirs."
These "cuts" are are expected to reduce expenses for the electronics retailer by $110 million in fiscal year 2008 and $140 million a year starting in fiscal 2009.
So, next time you go to Circuit City, if this story doesn't turn your stomach enough to STOP doing business with them, you'll be happy to see a teeie bopper there who probably doesn't have a clue as to what he's sellin' ya!

this is ridiculous
like, when i go to the store to fork over hundreds (or more...think of how expensive the new tv's are...) i DO NOT want to think that i'm being helped by whoever would agree to work for the least amount of money.

imagine the interview process:

CC: did you graduate high school?
applicant: no.
CC: can you read?
applicant: no.
CC: have you ever used a computer?
apllicant: no.
CC: will you work for $5 dollars an hour?
applicant: yes.
CC: you're hired.

sigh.

sorry for the long comment, but sheesh!

and, as always, thanks for playing!

I'm with you on this one, sister! My husband and I have already decided to boycott Circuit City. And considering the people who work at Best Buy are dumbasses, are choice of electronics stores are becoming severely limited.

I HATE Best Buy. I can't remember if I posted about it or not, if I didn't I need to. But, I REFUSE to ever shop there again. I'm with you, Neila...our choices are becoming very limited.

Tiffany, I know! I'm with you on this one.

Travis, I don't think you're the only one!!

I've despised circuit city for years anyway, but the thing that really pisses me off about this is the fact that the 3,400 people can collect unemployment for 10 weeks, then according to circuit city -- they're "welcome to apply for a job with our company at the new rate of pay"
Yes, how many people are going to want to go back to the company that fired their ass so they can get a fraction of what they made $ before????
A well-deserved Ass Hat award!

I'm sure the CEO of Circuit City took a pay cut also. Or maybe he just quit for ten weeks and hired back in as a clerk to help out the company. Do you suppose?

Hi there! I'm Mikala and I'm the third moderator over at What the blog!? I just thought I'd take the time to introduce myself.

Now, that's just a sad state of affairs...I mean, come on! I thought we had laws against that! And, they're the darn idiots that started paying them well!
