Your 19 Month Old Week 2

Toddlers love to feel like they're making an important contribution to any activity. Your child will want to help you around the house now, and you may find that this makes chores more fun for both of you — or you may find yourself dismayed by how long it takes you to get anything done. (not me!!)
Avoid frustration and save your important housecleaning tasks for times when your toddler is asleep or out of the house. (Like midnight!) When the two of you are together, let him help with small chores like putting his plastic cup and bowl into the dishwasher, throwing wet clothes into the dryer, or wiping up a spill. (This reminds me of a funny story: last night I was running the kids some bath water and Tyler had his diaper off and was standing in the hallway. I heard him pee in the floor. He looked down and then looked back at me and said, Uh oh! He proceeded to the bathroom and grabbed a handtowel and went back to the puddle and tried to clean it up. It was too funny!)

At least he tried to clean it up, right?

That's neat, and I definitely agree. My daughter's 20 months, and it's hard not to get frustrated with her when she's trying to help, but really just getting in the way. Guess I'm just learning patience.

That reminds me, my daughter pooped in the bath tub last week. Guess the tub's better than the carpet.

I get those emails too, but haven't actually read them in awhile. My Toddler loves "helping" too, which has resulted in broken dishes, waking up Baby, and generally making more mess lol. But at least he tries!
