Manic Monday with Mo # 3 - Celebration

This week's theme: CELEBRATION!!
cel·e·brate: [sel-uh-breyt] verb, -brat·ed, -brat·ing.
–verb (used with object)
1. to observe (a day) or commemorate (an event) with ceremonies or festivities: to celebrate morgEpalooza, the 40th birthday of Mo.

When I read this week's theme, I immediately knew what I would post about. Being a mom has been one of the greatest celebrations in my life. On Friday, November 29,2002 my husband and I celebrated the birth of our first child. Shelby Lynn was a beautiful addition to our family. The moment she was born and they placed her in my arms, I was overwhelmed with emotions. I was holding a child, MY child. I had nurtured her for nine months in my own body and now by the grace of God she was here in my arms. I was so happy. With suffering from a miscarriage just a year earlier, I was cautious throughout my pregnancy taking all of the necessary precautions during the entire time. When Shelby was born, we celebrated her birth because she was our first born. She had ten fingers and toes and she was so beautiful.
When we decided to expand our family, I stopped taking birth controll and it was within weeks that I discovered that the stick had a plus sign once again. We were all excited. Shelby was going to be a big sister and we had lots of preparing to do, including moving into a new home with more room for our addition.

We celebrated the birth of our second child on Tuesday, August 9, 2005. Tyler Matthew, our son was born. We were overjoyed at the thought of a little boy to "even the odds" in our household. Brien was so proud to have a son, a namesake to carry on his legacy. Tyler is a beautiful boy who continues to amaze me daily. I love him so much.

My two children are my most produdest accomplishments in life. I celebrate them every day. I thank God every day that I have a wonderful husband to help me raise such beautiful children. I can only hope that with his help we can raise them to be successful and loving adults!

Thank you for sharing this lovely slideshow of memorable events. Being a mother is really one of the greatest blessings a woman can have. It's wonderful how you shared your joys of being a mother twice. A great source of celebration indeed.

*sniff* That is an awesome post! You have beautiful children - a great reason to celebrate every day!

Incidentally, I didn't realize our children were so close in age. My son was born July 8, 2002 (not due until Aug. 19, 2002, but that's another story), and my daugther was born June 24, 2005.
