Mother's Day recap

Hello everyone!

I hope all of you moms had a happy Mother's Day!
I certainly did. My family as well as Brien's family all gathered at my house for a small cook out. We grilled hamburgers and hot dogs. It was nice to have the family all together and not have to do too much. We ate from paper plates and drank from plastic cups, so there wasn't too much work on anybody (especially myself) to clean up afterward!

I got a very nice mother's day gift. My husband and I picked out new furniture for our living room. We got the microsuede fabric. We got two rocker/recliners and two couches. It is a nice touch to our living room. We've been married for 6 years and it was the first time we'd actually been furniture shopping together. We did buy a washer and dryer when we first married, but that wasn't too hard to pick out...whatever they had that would do the job that was the cheapest!

We both have different versions of the way the decision making process occured, but since this is my blog, you only get to hear my version of it! I am a hard person to please. I think in the back of my mind on how things will look later on. I also try to vision things in their actual setting. We picked out recliners first. That was pretty easy. I made my decision based mostly on the fact that they had two of the certain lazyboys that were in the color I liked. So, from there we decided to get two couches. We went back and forth on what we liked and disliked. My husband really likes leather. I don't like it. My grandmother had it and I hated it...it was hot in the summer and cold in the winter. When you lay on it you sweat and stick to it. I just didn't like it. The major downfall with it is that we have a two year old and another child on the way so we needed something pretty durable.
So, he did settle for the microsuede eventhough he didn't really like it much. We went back and forth on several different couches. I found a couple that I really liked, and he didn't like them much so we went back and forth. Finally we went back to my first decision. He said that I took too long making decisions etc. But, I had chosen the two couches that we brought home from the very first.
Picking out furniture is a definite test of a relationship. Brien said he knew that I didn't like something if I asked him what his opinion was! Heh

Anyhow, we did get some pretty stuff. I still don't think he likes it a lot, but maybe eventually it will grow on him. He wanted to bring home Camo!! But, I talked him out of that. If we buy a house that has two living rooms in it, he can have one camoed out, otherwise there will be no camoflauge furniture in my living room...sorry fellas!

I hope that everyone else had a wonderful mother's day and that you all got what you wanted and treated like the wonderful queens that you are!!

If he liked the camo furniture he should go to Cabela's and check out their camo bedroom stuff. I think it is great looking, but Renee would not even look at it. I think it looks nice though.

Grats on the new furniture! Does the microsuede stain easy and stuff? Or just wipe of like leather does. This is pretty new stuff isn't it?

Brien has suggested Camoflauge furniture before. We have seen it in Cabela's and at Bass Pro. I do agree that it is great looking. But, it doesn't go with the rest of the decor in my home! : )

The microsuede does wipe off. In fact you can take a pen or marker and write on it and it'll wash off. That is great with small children. So, that was a big selling point for me.
