That thang gotta hemi?

Last night was my first night out of the house in a while. Yesterday in general was actually my first time out of the house (other than to go get Shelby from the sitter) since Tuesday! I am feeling mostly better now. I am still coughing quite a bit, but I feel well, otherwise.

We left Shelby with Brien's mom. She was home alone. Ray went out of town with his truck driving friend to haul a load with him. So, she was very pleased to spend some one on one time with Shelby. Shelby wasn't as pleased when we left her, but I'm sure by the time we got to the end of the driveway she'd forgotten all about us.

We met Mandy and Jason at their house. They were still getting ready. We all tried to decide where to go and Brien had made up his mind he really wanted some good ribs. So, we tossed up Shorty Smalls vs Chillis. Well, Chillis really plays up their ribs on television...I want my baby back baby back baby back...So, that is where we chose. Naturally on a Saturday night 8:30, you have to wait 30 minutes or so to get a seat, so they gave us one of those cute little pagers that have all of the lights and vibrate when it is time for you to be seated. Anyhow, we got to our table and right from the start we had a bad waitress. She came to the table and asked if we wanted any appetizers. We said no, she just said well I'll be back to take your order in a few minutes then. Two people at the table had drinks from the bar. I got her attention and told her I would like some iced tea. Brien did as well. So, she brought those out and Mandy and Jason were ready for another beer. I swear it took her 20 minutes to bring a drink each time she brought one...even the iced teas! Jason and Brien both ordered the ribs. Mandy and I got some kind of Lime Chicken & Shrimp with margarita sauce on them. The chicken was fabulous, melt in your mouth over a wonderful lemon flavored, just a hint of lemon, not too much rice. The shrimp were good as well. I am just not a big shrimp fan unless it's battered and deep fried and I have lots of coctail sauce. Anyhow, Mandy and I were raving about how wonderful our meals were. Jason was asking to speak to a manager about his. He said his ribs tasted freezer burnt. Brien said they weren't the best he'd ever eaten but they were okay. Anyhow, Jason complained enough on the waitress and about the dinner that he didn't pay for his (eventhough he ate over half of it). The waitress was pretty bad. I don't think she was overextended either. The only other table I saw her waiting on was the one right beside us. She was there every other minute and she wouldn't hardly come to our table at all! Anyhow, overall it was pretty frustrating. I don't think that we could drag Jason in there with wild horses! But, Mandy and I would go there again for that chicken for sure, as long as we didn't set in Rachel's spot!

We left there and went on to The Loony Bin comedy club. When we got there they asked if we had reservations...NO! The only time I've made reservations before is when the Sand Man is there because you can't get in otherwise. So, we got tickets and then we heard these people that had reservations for a party of 30 talking to the ticket people and we got kind of concerned and Mandy asked her if there was a chance if you don't have reservations that you won't get in to see the show or have bad seats. The lady said yes. So, we were pissed 'cause we got there 45 minutes early to see the late show, so if we couldn't get in to do that it would be too late to go do anything else. But, they'd already sold us tickets, so I think she meant that if you didn't have tickets already you might not be able to get in. So, anyhow we get in and got to see the read headed guy that plays in the Dodge commercials...ya know the one that says "HEY, That thing got a hemi!?" He was pretty funny, but not as funny as I had expected. He plays on the Rodney Carrington show on Tuesday nights on ABC. I didn't even know Rodney Carrington had a show. But, I plan on watching this week just to see. Mandy says he's pretty funny.
We had a fun time there.

Two interesting notes, as we were leaving there had been a fight out in the front lobby and the guys had broke the front glass out of the building!
There was also a wreck on the way home. Jason had been trying to get us to get off the freeway and we didn't want to because I didn't want to drive his "short cut". We got around the curve and there were flashing lights everywhere, so for like 30 mintues while we sat in traffic we had to listen to him say told you so!
I guess they completely cleared everything before they let traffic through, cause all we saw was a smashed up railing.

Anyhow, we had a great time and I guess today we are going to go get the newest addition to our family...still haven't named it. The chocolate lab. They called yesterday and said they are ready to get rid of them. So, I guess we'll go get Shelby and then head out to get him.
